Interstellar Space: Nova Shipset

The great rivers have served as the Nova's only safe haven against the harsh and unforgiving conditions of their small desert homeworld, Nova Prime, for as far back as their written records exist. With no other sources of surface water, few natural resources, and dangerous wildlife all around them, their species had no choice but to adapt and evolve to survive. Benevolent and frugal, yet very generous, these desert folk detest violence and find contentment in living a simple existence.

As a highly intelligent race capable of far greater feats, the Nova are clear underachievers, but this under-performance is by choice, not by chance. As remnants of a once powerful empire, the Nova learned during the cataclysmic event known as the "Dark Days" that great ambition has a cost, and in the loss of their original homeworld, they paid the ultimate price. Whether a true story, or simply a parable meant to instill and preserve their simple way of life, their elders preach that their society must never again lose their way and squander the gifts they've been given.
