Description
With the launch of the Asgard carrier, a heavy fighter was required to man it and combat stolen pirate fighter swarms. Instead of incremental advancements, LIM had decided to put all their eggs in one basket and produce the most advanced and mass-producible fighter on the market - the LF-24 Valkyrie. Intended to remain in service far longer than its predecessors from the company, it has modular armored bays, a frontally-mounted railgun for punching through ship armor, an underslung autocannon and targeting pod, 6x missile pylons, excessive maneuverability for a fighter of its size, internal armor plating which shields critical compartments from incoming fire, has reflective navigation strips in case of power failures or damage, and is carrier-capable via compatibility with catapults.

Launching with this new fighter is the last model of a few time-honed missiles. The SIM-8G and AGM-35D. These have far higher reliability, but most importantly require no setup once attached to the fighter - they activate simply by being detached, so there is far fewer time spent rearming the entire payload which leads to a far higher readiness. (Just toggle the projectors and let the welders do their thing, no further setup required - you don't even have to own the blocks of the missiles to use them)

The LF-24A variant is a dedicated space superiority fighter with the capability of ground assault,

meanwhile the LF-24B variant is a multi-role fighter with a pilot and a Weapon Systems Operator.

Those especially are pretty brutal when you're actually trying to fly.

They're far too intrusive visually.

is there a reason that you never do glass for the cockpit?
