Description
The 7700 Series (7700形) is a tram vehicle operated by Toei on the Toden-Arakawa Line.

This type was manufactured by reusing the car body of the 7000 series, originally built between 1954 and 1956. The undercarriage was refurbished with the same equipment used for the 8900 series, while the exterior and passenger compartment of the vehicles were redesigned with a retro theme. Some systems such as air conditioning, and in-car announcements were retained, as they were installed/upgraded much later in the tram’s service history. While Toei had intended replace the entire remaining 7000 series fleet with the 8900 series, only half the planned number were built. Therefore, the last 8 remaining were rebuilt into the 7700 series between 2016 and 2017, ostensibly due to the costs of remodelling being around 30% lower than a newly built 8900 series.
