Seoul Metro 8000 series

Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation's Line 8 rolling stock is classified as 8000 series. Manufactured by Daewoo in 1995, the first batch of trains were introduced. They were equipped with the same electrical equipment as the 4000 series. Hanjin Heavy Industries built a second batch in 1999. They were equipped with a Toshiba IGBT-VVVF inverter, and the exterior was changed from the conventional frame construction method to a two-sheet construction method developed by Kawasaki, eliminating the outer panel bead, enlarging the destination LED display on the front , and painting the window frames black. The side windows were single panes and could not be opened or closed. The third batch was introduced as replacements for sets 821 and 822, which were damaged in an arson attack and transferred to Line 7, and as additional trains for the extension of the line in 2024. Like the fourth-generation 5000 series and 7000 series, the trains are manufactured by Woojin. A fourth batch was introduced in 2026 to replace some older cars.
