Description
This is just a simple mod for fun. This feature was originally from "Merciless Bots" mod, but I decided to make it as a standalone mod because it could be useful for bots. Yeah, bots usually have a hobby to go hanging from ledge for no reason, especially in custom campaigns.


List of features available on "no hanging from ledge.txt" cfg file:
  1. anti_hanging_from_ledge_user: Who can automatically climb up when hanging from ledge (bots/ players/ all).

  2. auto_climb_up_timer: How long until a survivor can automatically climb up when hanging from ledge. Min= 0.5 second. Max= no limit.


Simple mechanisms:
  • When a survivor is hanging from ledge, a timer will be set based on "auto_climb_up_timer"

  • When the timer is equal to the value of "auto_climb_up_timer", the hanging survivor will climb up automatically.


So, with this mod, bots won't annoy you by hanging from ledge again & again when you need to keep running, as they will climb up on their own automatically.

could we get something like this, but only coach and bill stay hanging down from the ledge? Almost like they couldn't pull themselves up?

They are probably the least in shape out of everyone. I also like the idea that certain characters have different quirks than others. I already have a slower coach and bill XD

@ten20 , I'm not sure if it can work or not, as probably the animation will be locked on hanging state. So, changing the animation in few seconds before completely climbing up might not work as it will be cancelled by the hanging animation. But I'll try to do some tests on it first.

you should make it where when the player climbs up it makes it the climbing up animation, woud make it better imo.

@ Olde , I already tested on those animated previews, & I could still grab the ledge. Probably one or some of your mods caused you to fail to grab the ledge. & there's "auto_climb_up_timer" to set the timer, if you still want to grab ledge for several seconds. On the animated previews, I set "auto_climb_up_timer" to 1.5 (1.5 second) to save time of making gif images in around 2 seconds as gif images have size limit. It can be set to 30 seconds, 1 minute, or even higher as the value there represents the seconds of how long a survivor is in hanging state before they climb up.

If they're hanging too long I can always kick them. If I can't grab a ledge that's a big problem. That is, unless this issue is on my end. I implore you to try it yourself and see if you actually grab ledges because with this mod enabled, I don't anymore.

@ Olde , waiting bots to fall takes way longer time, & zombies won't wait especially during alarm event or finale like "The Parish" where sometimes bots go hanging from ledge for no reason. So it's better for them to climb up on their own, as that will save some time.

This seems to remove the ability for the player to grab ledges, which is way worse than waiting for bots to fall from ledges.
