Something Begins
Join the Summer Bonfire.

On the last day of Summer attend the bonfire at the Far Beach (only location available).

Social Butterfly
Meet all characters.

Should complete naturally as you play the game, but the first occasion you can meet each of the characters (to the best of my understanding) is listed below.
  • Tilde & Fern - Summer 1st
  • Walt - Summer 2nd
  • Harper - first visit to the Far Beach
  • Anne & Klaus - first visit to the Flea Market
  • Maryam - second visit to the Café
  • Moira - likely the last character you will meet as she won't be present in Bookstonbury until Autumn (confirmed to visit your shop at the Café, University and Flea Market - others may be possible)
Note: although there are some location specific characters (notably Tomasz at the Lighthouse), as they are not listed on the Characters page of your journal they are not required for this achievement.

Full Moon
Sell books at the Fall Fear Fest.

Attend the Fall Fear Fest at Café Liberté on the last day of Fall (only location available).
Don't forget to equip your shop with Spooky items!

Tis the Season
Open up shop at the Winter Market.

Attend the Winter Market any day in the last two weeks of winter. The Winter Market is the only available location on New Year's Eve.
Don't forget to equip your shop with festive items!

Spring Hath Come Again
Revive the Flower Festival.

At her birthday celebration (Spring 18th at Café Liberté - or when she visits your shop if you miss it) Tilde will express her desire to revive the Flower Festival. It is held in Rye Park on the last day of Spring (only location available).
Don't forget to equip your shop with plants!

Anniversary
Spend 1 year in Bookstonbury.

Play through all four seasons.
Journal Achievements (Stamps & Memories)
This group of achievements are all related to stamps or memories in your journal. The requirements are explained in brief here, but I've listed the relevant stamp/memory and you can find more details in Completing the Journal (Stamps & Memories) guide if needed.

Paperback Writer
Become an author.

Acquire the typewriter from the Flea Market Dealer, equip and interact with it until you complete your manuscript.

Flea Market: Your Big Debut

Good Boy
Adopt the dog.

Buy a fish from Walt during the fish market and offer it to the stray dog. At the end of the day you will be given the option to adopt and name him.

Waterfront Square: Adopt the Stray

Absolute Menace
Scare the tourists away with the help of local wildlife.

Equip a fish (purchasable from Walt at the fish market or found by interacting with Maryam's bins as part of the Café Liberté's Harde Times challenge) and visit the Waterfront during cruise season (16-23 of Summer, Autumn and Spring - may not occur during Summer Year 1) to attract the seagulls and scare away the tourists.

Walt: The Cruise Ship Must Go

No Silence in the Library
Attend a concert.

Complete Klaus's requests including recommending books, promoting the band and finding a stage (requires completing all the challenges at the Lighthouse).

Klaus: Too Loud for the Library
General Achievements
Sunk Cost Fallacy
Go into debt.

This is substantially easier to complete early in the game when you have less money. As you are unable to purchase things you cannot afford outright the trick is to spend most of your money (eg. buying books or items from the newspaper) and then travel to a location where the travel cost is greater than the money left in your wallet.

Meow!
Adopt the cat.

As you progress through Tilde's story she will ask you to look after her cat Freja.

Seagull Literacy
"Sell" 10 books to seagulls. They need to read too!

Equip a fish (purchasable from Walt at the fish market or found by interacting with Maryam's bins as part of the Café's Harde Times challenge) to your shop to attract seagulls when at the Waterfront, Beach, Lighthouse or Castle Ruins. While the seagulls are around they will occasionally fly into your shop and "buy" (steal) books. The seagulls can also occasionally ask for a recommendation (good luck!).

Safety Risk
Make your shop overly dangerous.

Equip dangerous items to your shop. The level of danger needs to reach 100%. The "Overly Dangerous" effect will be on your shop for the day.

Tip: if you're struggling to reach 100% danger through items alone, the "Seagulls!!!" effect (gained by having a fish equipped at a location near the shore) adds +40% danger to your shop. With +50% danger from the Spoiled Fish (grab it from Maryam's bins during the Harde Times challenge) to attract the seagulls, you only need another +10% danger from other items.
Also remember to unequip items that reduce your danger level eg. Life Buoy.

Beginner's Luck
Win a chess match.

Visit Rye Park on a Monday or Wednesday with nice weather and talk to the chess club to join a new game of chess. You will need to do this at least twice, keep joining in each time you visit until you win a match.

Perfectly Balanced
Do some yoga, without straining yourself too much.

Visit Rye Park on a Tuesday or Thursday with nice weather and talk to the yoga group to join the warm-up. You will need to do this twice, the first time you will overexert yourself, the second time you will succeed and feel rejuvenated (it might be possible to also overexert yourself the second time, if so just keep participating in the group until you succeed).
Item and Inventory Achievements
Moneypants
Have at least 1000 coins in your pocket.

You will likely get this naturally as you get further into the game, don't worry about trying to achieve this early on. If you're getting close you may want to prioritise saving up your money before working towards the achievements below.

Vast Selection
Have at least 100 books in on your shelves.

First you will need the space to hold 100 books. Shelves can be bought from Tilde at the Flea Market, Walt at the Waterfront and seasonal section of the newspaper. Once you have enough space then you just need to accumulate enough books to fill them.

Private Library
Have at least 1000 books in your storage.

This may seem near-impossible early on, but should become fairly straightforward as you progress and have enough money to buy out all the book boxes in the newspaper as well as from other sources (eg. Tilde at the Flea Market).

Second Hand Hoarder
Collect 100 items.

As well as buying items from vendors (Walt at the Waterfront, stalls at the Flea Market etc.) and picking up things you find in each location, as you progress through the game you will receive many items as part of or as rewards for requests and challenges. Just keep playing until you achieve this.

Tiny Plant Shop
Equip at least 12 plant items at once.

You can buy plants from Anne at the Flea Market and the seasonal section of the newspaper. Anne will also give you some plants as you progress through the game and complete her requests. Once you've accumulated at least 12, equip them to your tiny bookshop.
Tip: you can filter the items in the customisation screen to only view plants.

Mascot Rescue
Adopt the mascot.

Sometime after solving the mascot murder case, the repaired Méga Mascot will appear for sale for 190 coins in the seasonal section the newspaper.

Mega Fan
Equip all Méga Marché items and become the ultimate sellout.

Three things are required:
  • Méga Mascot - see above
  • Méga Sign - given to you by Klaus after completing the Become a sellout challenge at Méga Marché
  • MÉGA RED - appears in the seasonal section the newspaper for 30 coins. Note: the entire outside of your shop needs to be painted MÉGA RED
Successful Seller Achievements
The following achievements all involve selling a specific amount of books in a single day.

A high sales chance (viewable in your journal or by hovering over the genres on the right side of the screen) will be one of the most helpful things in completing all of the sales achievements.

Some general tips:
  • The more books of a genre you have in stock on your shelves the higher the sales chance. Therefore buying more shelves so you can carry more books is essential.
  • At each location there are genres that are more popular (and genres that hardly sell at all). Check the location page in your journal to see what genres sell well there, or:
  • Pay attention to the colours of customers clothing - it indicates their preferred genres (confirmed true for custom colours).
  • Items can significantly increase or decrease the sales chance of genres, be sure to check your shop set-up and adjust as necessary (such as increasing the sales chance of the genres that are popular at a location).
  • Keep an eye out for items that raise your customer count (eg. Guestbook), the more people that visit your shop, the more books you have a chance to sell.
  • Recommendations are your friend, whenever you successfully recommend a book not only will that customer stay and potentially buy more books, but you will gain the "Inspired Customers" effect which adds a +15% sale chance to all books. Consider items that increase the number of recommendations you receive per day, and items increase the inspiration duration. (There is no penalty for an unsuccessful recommendation (aside from that customer leaving your shop), so it is usually worth trying to recommend something even if you're not sure it's a match.)
  • Pay attention to special events or times of the year that increase or decrease the number of customers at certain locations (eg. Orientation Week at the University is very busy, Méga Marché is closed on Sundays)

Bookworm
Sell 30 books in a day.
Scholar
Sell 60 books in a day.
Mass Appeal
Sell 90 books in a day.

Sold Out!
Sell out all of the books on your shelves.

It only counts if your shelves are fully stocked at the start of the day and as some characters helpfully inform you, in order to sell out sometimes less is more. If you're struggling to do this naturally equip only your smallest shelf (the Storage Box is useful for this - you can buy it from Tilde at the Flea Market) and fill it with the popular genres of the location (eg. Fact and Classic for the University) at the start of the day. You won't make much of a profit, but should be able to sell out. Furnishing your store with items that boost the genre/s you are carrying can also help if you're having trouble.

Genre Specific Sales Achievements
All of these achievements require you to sell a significant number of a specific genre in one day.
In addition to the tips listed above, for these achievements it is generally advisable to stock 5-10 books more than the number you need to sell of the genre (i.e. 45-50).

Below I've noted some locations where each genre is very popular and some useful events that increase the relevant sales chance but by no means is this an exhaustive list.

Recommendation Achievements

Accomplished Bookologist
Successfully recommend 3 books in a single day.
Master Bibliophile
Successfully recommend 5 books in a single day.

Hopefully you can accomplish these without too much trouble, but if necessary, remember to equip items that increase the number of recommendations you are asked for per day to increase your chances. (And beware items that decrease the number of recommendations you are asked for, if you are actively working on these achievements)
Hidden Achievements
Most of the Hidden Achievements are tied to completing a character's personal story and their Core Memory (gold border). The requirements are explained in brief here, but you can find more details in Completing the Journal (Stamps & Memories) guide if needed.

Be There For Tilde
Support Tilde during her stay in the hospital.

In Winter Tilde will go to hospital for surgery and will send you on three separate fetch-quests to collect items and return with them to her at the hospital. You need to complete each request to start the next one until you complete all three. The requests can still be completed after Tilde leaves the hospital. but confirmation is needed whether this affects the achievement - until then it is recommended to prioritise these tasks while Tilde is still in hospital. (Thanks to Builder for confirming that the achievement can be earned in year 2.)

Master of Plants
Help Anne with her research project.

Help each of the 3 seedlings Anne gives you to fully grow. (She will give you the next seedling after the one before it has finished growing.) Each plant requires a specific environmental condition + selling a certain genre (Urban + Crime, Rain + Drama, Coastal + Fantasy).

Hot off the Press
Restore the printing press together with Fern.

Help Fern restore the printing press by collecting manuscripts and donations, then printing a book using the printing press at the University.

Fish tastes better fried.

Help Walt open his Tinkets 'n' Treasures shop by completing his Clearance Sale and Hot New Deals requests.
