Tobu 80000 Series / 東武80000系

The 80000 Series (80000系) is a commuter EMU introduced by Tobu Railway in 2025.

Developed to replace the 8000 and 10030 series on the Urban Park Line, the 80000 series was designed as a family friendly vehicle suited to the line's medium density suburban character. The interior compartment was themed after living rooms, with wooden flooring and wall panels. A "Tanoshiito" priority seat is present in the 4th car, which is designed for parents to place strollers in the free space adjacent to the seat. In addition, the partition window of the drivers compartment and the emergency front door window was extended downwards,intended for children to be able to view through without needing to be held. For the running equipment, the SynTRACS synchronous reluctance motor system is used, the second type to do so after Fukuoka Subway 4000 series, reducing energy usage by more than 40% compared to the 8000 series. The 80000 series are arranged in fixed sets of 5 cars, with a total of 25 sets to be introduced. 18 of those would reuse a modified car from 60000 series sets, which are being shortened to 5 cars concurrently. Therefore, a total of 107 newly manufactured cars are planned, with 5 sets in service as of August 2025.
