Land On Anything

Description
Sick and tired of having to find a large open space for your gravship and just want to input "yolo" into the guidance system? Want to smash your reinforced hull directly into a hostile building so your auto-cannons can open up at point blank range while you yell "SUPRISE!"? How about disabling the annoying safety lockout that prevents you from landing on an angry guy with a spear? Sad because you can't turn your gravship into an instant mountain base?

Now you can.

This mod lets you throw away the safety guidelines and land on top of whatever you want. Walls? Roofs? Buildings? Hostiles? Friendlies? That really Important thing you shouldn't land on because you need to keep it intact for a quest?

Squish.

By default anything on your gravship will take damage if it is placed on top of something, up to 50% of its max health. This can be adjusted or changed to a flat 25 to 35 damage, the same as the "minor gravship crash" negative outcome.

Bonus Features

Land your shuttle anywhere that is valid to build it

This mod started when I couldn't land my shuttle because of decorative markings and underground pipes, because the default shuttle code only allows it to land on top of powerlines. That original goal is an option in the mod, and everything else is scope creep. This is done by replacing the "is empty or only powerlines" check with the same placeworker used when you build a shuttle.

Unblock-able engines.

Needed if you embed your ship in a mountain, or just build your engines in the rec-room for easy maintenance access. Also eliminates the pain of not being able to launch because your idiot colonists built a roof over your enclosed thruster zone.

Options

Decide what you should and shouldn't be able to land on, clear out everything within two tiles of your ship, adjust or remove the damage inflicted, enable optional features. Mouse-over options for more details. (in game, not in this mod description!)

What about landing on any world tile?

Use the mod Land Ship On Any Tile and you'll be able to choose any world tile to land on, even if a quest has it flagged as "don't let the player land here."

FAQ

Does this mod have issues if I launch two gravships at the same time?

That causes issues in vanilla Rimworld, and this mod will add a few extra problems. Do not do this!

Is it safe to add/remove this mod on an existing save?

Yes, this mod can be added/removed.

I landed on the important thing that I flew here to interact with and now this map is useless!

Fly to a new map.

What happens if I land on my own pawns by accident?

An emergency teleport system will activate at the last moment and send them to a comfortable life on a nearby glitterworld.

Really?

There is no evidence that this is not true.

Version 1.0.3 uploaded with a fix for the "geyser stuck on ship" issue.

@wofwofwofwofwofwofwof did you save the game mid-flight?

I did test that scenario with this mod some features didn't work but the game didn't crash or have any major issues. If that is the case: do you have the same issue if you load a game before taking off and redo the flight, and do you have the same issue if you disable this mod and then load the game?

The gravship indicator vanishes instantly after being placed, error log says GravShipLandingMarker cannot be placed in null map

God bless your soul man!
My 7000 points ship is now able to continue its blood fueled path.

@FotisP68n this mod doesn't affect which tiles you can choose as a destination, so it won't let you land on the same tile you take off from.

Can I land on the same map with this mod? I'm basically looking to be able to relocate the gravship and rotating, if not how do I do it?

@Guardian Thanks, I see the issue now - the geyser removal is done in a loop that only runs when damage is enabled (since that was the original purpose of the code, before I discovered the need to have special anti-geyser code)

I'll have a fix uploaded shortly.

Hello, Noticed that if I turn off the 'damage to ship' option, the steam geyser doesn’t disappear when landing.

Adding mid-flight should cause the mod to not work for that landing, but shouldn't loop endlessly - I'll see if I can figure out why and add more safeguards. In the meantime, like RaarCDN suggests, add the mod **before** launching.

Tested the mod out. I would advise that you install the mod before you launch and try to land on a map. Saving during the landing sequence, installing the mod and then trying to land just leads to an endless landing. Reloading an earlier save (before map generation) fixed this.
