Description
Cornerforts is a casual side project with a simple premise: design a map around functional cannons. After much trial and error, I settled on a square map with one fort in every corner, each pointing several guns at its neighbours. The cannons themselves were very simple in the first version, but its successor is much more ambitious! In Cornerforts 2, cannons can shoot two kinds of ammunition. Additionally, cannons must now be reloaded manually. The map’s larger overall, and teams now spawn inside captured forts; otherwise they spawn in the middle.

Unlike its predecessor, Cornerforts 2 benefited from repeated playtests during its development. Unfortunately, 12 players was the most I could get, but the map’s designed with 24 players in mind. Due to its complexity, bots aren’t supported. All assets are placeholders, though I don’t intend to develop the map any further. The logic of the cannons was done exclusively with pre-existing map entities.

Gameplay tips:
  • You can enter/exit friendly and neutral forts from the side.
  • You can ignore the enemy cannons while you hack away at their barricade.
  • You can break barricade segments faster with the help of a friend.
  • You can duck cannonballs while capturing territories.
  • You can replace a cannon’s chosen ammunition during the loading phase.
  • You can shoot open the crates in the valleys with grapeshot.
