Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning II

The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is an American single-seat, single-engine, fifth-generation, multi-role stealth fighter aircraft.

The F-35 was designed as part of an international research and development program called the Joint Strike Fighter, which aimed to build a fighter that would meet the requirements of all branches of the armed forces. The program was led by the American corporation Lockheed Martin in a consortium with Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems, with the participation of companies and research institutions from seven other countries.

The aircraft's mission is to perform close air support, precision bombing, reconnaissance, electronic warfare, and typical fighter-to-fighter air combat missions. To minimize research and development program costs and subsequent sustainment, three variants of the aircraft were developed for different branches of the armed forces, sharing 80% of their components. The conventional CTOL variant for the Air Force was designated the F-35A; short take-off and vertical landing STOVL aircraft designated as F-35B and F-35C developed for the role of a carrier-based aircraft for the Navy.
