Is Leather Important In My Gameplay?
Leather is a common material but it’s actually more important than face value.

Leather is required for early Pelt Armor, heat- and cold-resistant gear, metal sets, and dozens of saddles, feed bags, and Partner Skills. It costs 150 Gold at merchants, yet many pieces of stronger equipment also demand it, so shortages quickly block progress.

Bases cannot auto‑produce leather, so ignoring it means farming manually each time new recipes unlock.
3 Ways to Get Leather
So here’s the trio:
  • Hunt the right Pals.
  • Find merchants.
  • Explore the overworld.

    1. Farming Leather from Pals
Defeating or capturing any leather‑dropping Pal grants one bundle of hides. After unlocking the Meat Cleaver at level twelve, you can butcher captured Pals for another hide drop, though the Pal is “removed”.

In short, this is your bread and butter.

    Early-Game Pals
Early in Palworld, you’ll find that Pals roam around your starting zones. They’re low level, respawn often, and almost always drop 1-2 leather when you catch or defeat them:

    • Foxparks
    • Fuack
    • Rooby
    • Vixy
    • Rushoar

    Mid- to Late-Game Pals
Once you explore further you can farm larger Pals for more leather. Some drop more leather (often 2-4 pieces) and are located in later biomes beyond your starting region:

    • Univolt
    • Pyrin / Pyrin Noct
    • Tombat
    • Katress
    • Verdash
    • Mammorest / Mammorest Cryst
    • Fenglope / Fenglope Lux
    • Eikthyrdeer / Eikthyrdeer Terra
    • Melpaca
    • Direhowl
    • Nitewing
    • Ribbuny
    • Incineram / Incineram Noct
    • Chillet / Chillet Ignis
    • Galeclaw

    2. Purchasing from Merchants

A Wandering Merchant in Small Settlement sells unlimited leather for 150 Gold each. He stays near the fast‑travel statue by the wooden gate.

Other merchants across the archipelago offer the same price, but this one is the most convenient in early game.

    3.Looting from the Overworld

Exploring the overworld is often more than enough, even with minimal combat. Think of it like getting Leather bundles as you play the game.
