This mod was made based on the ideas of Mariner Hawk for Maniac, here are some words from him regarding this mod

I’ve always really enjoyed Maniac as a path. When he was released, Lash’s/Sepsis were unique abilities in the game and balanced to not be too strong. As the game has changed and evolved, I think Maniac has fallen behind. While it is on the new path system, it’s the oldest of the new paths and definitely feels like it’s from a different time in the game’s history. Paths now, compared to when Maniac came out, give more power in the player’s hands and what was a “strong” ability in 2023 is a lot different than what a “strong” ability is now. Antagoniste and Confessor, for example, are similar negative token based paths that are more effective than Maniac in my opinion.

The purpose of this mod is to bring Maniac into the new era of Darkest Dungeon 2. This isn’t meant to be a total overhaul: I am aiming for a rework similar to what Chaplain/Confessor/Venomdrop/Ritualist have gotten in the past. These paths got changes that kept the path mostly the same, but added things like quality of life improvements, small ability changes, and a couple new tools for the path to work with. I tested this rework out on my stream and spent a few days making tweaks to make the path feel strong but balanced.

ABILITY CHANGES

Punish: Now usable in all ranks instead of 1/2/3.

Acid Rain: Unmastered now has 25% chance of combo

Sepsis: Cooldown reduced from 3 to 2. Usage limit removed. “Requires self below 50%” option of using Sepsis reduced to self below 25%

Lash’s Gift: Cooldown reduced from 2 to 1. “Skills Ignore Blind: 1 turn” buff added to the ability. Healing changed from 20% -> 30% to 30% both unmastered and mastered. Mastered Lash’s pulls all allies’ negative tokens to Flagellant (still only 1 target’s combo token)

More! MORE!: No longer applies Pain tokens (don’t hate me). Ranks changed from 1/2 to 2/3. More More adds 2 taunt tokens, an Immobilize token, and “Apply to Attacker when Hit: Vulnerable or Weak (1 turn).” Mastered More More adds a Blind token and “Skills Ignore Blind (1 turn)” alongside everything the unmastered gives.

Necrosis: Now requires Target: Negative Token instead of Target: Blight. Healing changed from 5% to 10%.

Suffer: Unmastered adds a single pain token. Mastered Suffer gives him Pain+ at the end of next turn based on how many types of DoTs he has.
