Fast Frontier Speed Mod

Description
Are your villagers moving just a little too leisurely for your taste? Even with the new 5x speed added in the 1.0 playtest branch, the pace still felt too slow. Call me impatient... so I made this mod. If you like it, please rate it. I plan on making more mods in the future.

This mod increases the available game speed options to:
10x
25x
A customizable speed (defaults to 50x)

It patches the time scale system directly to unlock these faster speeds. The UI will reflect your custom speed as one of the available options.

New Feature:
You can now set your own custom speed multiplier using the in-game Melon Preferences menu:

1) Launch the game, load your map, and press F5 to open the Melon Preferences UI
2) Select the Fast Frontier category
3) Adjust the Custom Speed Multiplier field to any value between 0.5x and 100x
4) Click Save Preferences
5) The speed will immediately apply and be added to the list of available speed options

Example: Set it to 40 for a 40x game speed. No restart required!

This has only been tested on the 1.0 playtest branch. Compatibility with other versions is not guaranteed.

NOTE: The game appears to be unstable at speeds greater than 20x. I have noticed that hunters will sometimes get stuck in an indefinite loop where they will shoot at animals without ever hitting them. Likewise, the hit-boxes and AI logic for raiders seems to break. Reducing the speed and then bringing it back up appears to fix it when that happens.

Requires the following mods to function:
Universal Lib
Melon Preference Manager

How to set the correct mod load order:
1) Go to your Steam Library
2) Right-click Farthest Frontier → Properties
3) lick on the Workshop tab
4) Use the drag handles next to each mod to reorder them
Ensure the load order is:
 • 1) Universal Lib
 • 2) Melon Preference Manager
 • 3) Fast Frontier Speed Mod

Maintaining this order ensures the mod works as intended.

How to launch the Mono version of the game (required for mods):
1) Go to your Steam Library
2) Right-click Farthest Frontier → Properties
3) Under the General tab, find “Selected Launch Option”
4) Use the dropdown menu to select: Play Farthest Frontier (Mono)
5) Launch the game, wait for it to reach the main menu, then close the game. This step is needed in order for MelonLoader to generate the proper folders and files for mods to function properly.

@GunRunner89X That sounds like an issue with your load order. Make sure your order looks something like this:
1) Universal Lib
2) Melon Preference Manager
3) Fast Frontier Speed Mod

This doesn't appear on the list of mods on the melon preference manager - it doesn't even show up as being enabled in the melon loader. Any idea why that might be? I think everything is up-to-date.

@Justin848 son of a gun, you're right. I'm on the stable release (0.97). No wonder it's throwing that exception.

@The Renegade My mod uses SettingsManager.get_maxGameSpeed which is available in the current playtest branch, but may not be available for any other version of the game. The logs you shared are syaing that it can't find SettingsManager.get_maxGameSpeed, which implies you're using a different version of the game.

What version are you currently using?

@ComeToDaddy It's likely due to the mods not properly being loaded automatically into the ".../steamapps/common/Farthest Frontier/Farthest Frontier (Mono)/Mods" folder. You're going to have to manually go to your ".../Steam/SteamApps/workshop/content/1044720" folder (1044720 is the designated Steam # for Farthest Frontier game) and manually copy the dll files from your downloaded mods into the Farthest Frontier (Mono)/Mods folder.

@ComeToDaddy Pressing f5 opens the Melon Preferences UI, which is it's own standalone mod that houses the options for all mods that you're subscribed to that utilizes Melon. Do you have other mods installed? It's likely you adjusted the settings for the wrong mod.

Why when I press f5 in game the controller won't show up? Instead there's a map feature get changed.

Mod

Save Preferences
