Bitmap Research Outpost

Description
This world is a demonstration of the Space Engineers Bitmap Animation Builder (SpEngBAB), which allows players to create custom bitmap graphics as well as bitmap animations of arbitrary length, and show them on any display on any block. No modding required!

Animations can also be broadcast to friendly grids using a transmitter and receiver system.

The newest version of SpEngBAB (v0.20.0) now includes thorough usage instructions.

Also, billboard animations now automatically detect the correct order of displays, so you can use the plane building mode and don't need to care about the order when creating the group.

Everything should work more or less out of the box. You didn't mention what you were trying to do that didn't end up working, so here are some general hints.

If nothing happens when you run a script with the "play" argument, check that the targeted block / block group name matches the name used in-game. If it doesn't match, the script will also print a message in its control panel when recompiling.

For billboards to work correctly, the grouped displays have to be placed row by row, starting from the bottom left. Then, they need to be selected in the same order when creating the block group.

I will try to write up some more thorough instructions and add them to the site.

Pretty neat, but not exactly self-explanatory even with the demo world. I'll have to really dig into this because it's very cool but does not just work out of the box.

I just saw this as well. I have been searching for someone with new out of the box ideas to present my own crazy ideas.. :) I'm the author of: Realms Of Forgotten Worlds and I have been very interested in getting my multi-option story into 3D format for quite a while now.
