What Soul Reaver 2 lacks in missables and collectibles it makes up in puzzle c*ntf*ckery. Brace for some fine PS2-era-box-pushing, telekinetic orb-aligning, and spectral-to-material realm-hopping puzzle madness. Therefore, you'll probably get stuck once every now and then.

Introduction - Must-Know Tips and Tricks
I'll just assume you know all of this already.
  • Like in Soul Reaver 1, you're better off pretty much just skipping past mobs entirely - especially when demons and hunters are fighting each other. Don't jump into the chaos if you don’t have to.
  • Combat in Soul Reaver 2 is brutally simple. Master attack and sidestep, and you're already set for most fights. Don't try pulling a Geralt of Rivia with pirouettes and whatnot here.
  • Later foes (especially demons) dodge more often and hit harder. Wait for their move, sidestep, then counter. Don't just mash blindly.
  • Use Force Bolts or Reaver projectiles to bait enemies away from groups.
  • Hunters can't swim. If you’re near water, just kick them in to finish the fight instantly.
  • If stuck, look around carefully for a ledge, movable object, or Soul Reaver interaction point. Both in material and spectral world, it's usually one of these 3.
  • Final Tip: Master one weapon and stick with it. Combat mechanics don’t change much, but your efficiency will skyrocket once you settle into a style.
Events at the Beginning of the Game
Ok, that's enough of that. Let's get into the game!

Time Streaming Device
  • Game starts exactly where Soul Reaver 1 ends - Raziel and Kain in Chronoplast.
  • After brief dialogue, Kain jumps through a time portal.
  • Raziel follows, but Moebius pulls him out mid-stream.
  • Moebius drops Raziel in the past, preventing direct clash with Kain.

Sarafan Stronghold
  • Moebius explains Kain's plan and Raziel’s origin as a Sarafan Knight.
  • Moebius forces an uneasy alliance - reveals staff suppresses Soul Reaver.
  • Proceed through double doors, fight 2 guards, gate opens.
  • In next hall: 1 guard, door on right. Next room: defeat 1 more, exit.
  • Cutscene: Raziel sees stained glass and statues of the Sarafan Order.
  • In courtyard: defeat 3 enemies → gate drops → shift to Spectral Plane.
  • Walk through bars, use Blue Portal to return to Material Realm.
  • Cutscene: Soul Reaver returns outside staff’s influence.
  • Cathedral Room: 7 enemies (optional). Exit through front iron doors.
  • Cutscene: Chapel with King William's tomb. Raziel absorbs broken Reaver.
  • New mechanic: Reaver Meter appears. Overuse drains Raziel’s health.
  • Cutscene: Sarafan kill an ancient vampire, take the Heart of Darkness.
  • Exit left door → hallway: 1 guard.
  • Cutscene: Chapel with memorial to Sarafan Lieutenants - including Raziel.

Southern Lake
  • Cutscene: Raziel sees pristine Nosgoth, pre-destruction.
  • Jump off ledge → swim left to checkpoint (loop on post).
  • Activate gears → opens underwater tunnel.
  • Swim through tunnel → reach obelisk (save point).
  • Backtrack slightly → platform up to higher land.
  • Glide across → follow path through enemies.
  • Small river → another checkpoint.
  • Take staircase right → fight enemies.
  • Cutscene: Raziel reflects on vampire persecution by humans.
  • At gate: kill enemies → hold switch → proceed.

The Pillars
  • Cutscene: Kain is Balance Guardian, refused to sacrifice himself.
  • Walk behind pillars → trigger next cutscene.
  • Shift to Spectral → path opens behind pillars → go through.
  • Blue Portal → shift back to Material.
  • Cutscene: Raziel senses he’s being watched.
  • Use Soul Reaver to open ancient door with figure resembling Raziel.

Subterran Ruins
  • Enter door → it shuts behind you.
  • Shadow enemies appear → fight while following linear path.
  • Reach ruin chamber → Cutscene: Raziel reunites with the Elder God.
  • Save point ahead.
  • Dive underwater → find lit tunnel → proceed.
  • Emerge → more shadow creatures.
  • Kill them → go left ramp → jump gap → continue.
  • Reach next water area → dive into lit tunnel.


Swamp
  • After the subterranean ruins, Raziel emerges in a thick swamp.
  • Activate checkpoint.
  • Fight a few enemies on dry ground - mud slows movement.
  • Follow the stepping stones to the right → reach a door → Raziel kicks it open.
  • Cutscene: Raziel realizes Vorador is the one watching him.
  • Defeat more enemies down the new path.
  • Find a second arch (like the previous doorway) → save point nearby.
  • Head left from save point → wide path with enemies.
  • Cutscene: Raziel observes blocked passage to the north (too high).
  • Find climbable wall left of blocked path → scale it and jump down other side.
  • Reach the ruins where Vorador was seen → checkpoint activates.
  • Use the Soul Reavrer to open the door ahead.

Dark Forge
  • Door shuts behind Raziel. Go forward.
  • Defeat guard with Soul Reaver → grab floating shield → place it on nearby door.
  • Proceed → spectral shift to bypass gate.
  • Advance → find Blue Portal → return to Material Realm.
  • Backtrack to gate → scale wall left of room → Cutscene: Raziel comments.
  • Ascend stairs → kill enemy at top → glide to central pillar.
  • Glide again to second platform with stairs → Cutscene: Mirror room revealed.

Mirror Puzzle Room:
  • Turn center mirror to open right room.
  • Enter hall → spectral shift to pass grate.
  • Reach large tree with central platform → Blue Portal nearby.
  • Shift back to Material → climb north/south walls → glide to platform.
  • Spectral shift: platform rises → glide to hallway.
  • Return to Material Realm → defeat guard → collect second shield → open nearby door.
  • Shoot Soul Reaver at ceiling above mirror.
  • Drag movable pillar to center → align mirror to cast shadow.
  • Climb broken pillar → high jump → glide to upper passage.
  • Cutscene: Collect small mirror from platform.
  • Use it to unlock door with mirror symbol → return to main room.
  • Place mirror on empty holder in mirror room.

Left Room Puzzle:
  • Turn mirror to open left room (guarded by gate).
  • Spectral shift → pass gate → return to Material via Blue Portal.
  • Climb wall → find mirror by gate → rotate it to face central room.
  • Move pillar → cast walkable shadow to center platform.
  • Shoot Soul Reaver at ceiling above platform’s mirror → new door opens.
  • High jump → reach passage → move sundial right → sunlight hits mirror.
  • Cutscene: Blue crystal ignites → Soul Reaver empowered.
  • Raziel now gains the Dark Reaver and life gauge upgrade.
  • Use Dark Reaver on nearby elemental door → Cutscene: Raziel explains elemental wells.
  • Open final elemental door → checkpoint → Cutscene: conversation with Vorador.



Back to the Swamp
  • Goal: return to Southern Laske to access Light Forge.
  • Backtrack manually - no fast travel system.
  • Optional: use save points in Vorador’s area.
Events After the Dark Reaver
Subterran Ruins (again)
  • Cutscene: Elder God speaks to Raziel again.
  • Use checkpoint if needed.
  • Use Dark Reaver to open sealed door.
  • Continue into deeper ruins.

The Pillars
  • Activate Checkpoint
  • Return to the Southern Lake.

Southern Lake
Dive into the lake
  1. Swim through the gear passage again
  2. Find land between the 4 waterfalls
  3. Use Dark Reaver to open the door
  4. Enter the Light Forge

Light Forge

Enter the hallway
  1. Fight enemies and Glide to altar with purple flame
  2. Recharge Dark Reaver if needed
  3. Place Dark Reaver into the altar flame
  4. Cross the Dark Bridge
  5. Shift to Spectral Realm, pass through the gate
  6. Activate Checkpoint → shift back to Material Realm
  7. Use Soul Reaver on the next door
  8. Cutscene triggers

Unlock Sun Door Path
  1. Go to the back of the main room
  2. Shift to Spectral Realm → pass through gate
  3. Continue to the Blue Portal, then shift back
  4. Slide the vertical mirror away from the gate
  5. Sun door opens → defeat enemies to get large mirror
  6. Place large mirror on empty stand
  7. Rotate it to open second sun door
  8. Shift to Spectral Realm, pass new gate
  9. Climb pillars → Glide to exit
  10. Shift back via Blue Portal

Retrieve Second Mirror
  1. Return to Pillar Room → Recharge Dark Reaver
  2. Backtrack to previous exit
  3. Pull block between staircases → climb up
  4. Down hallway, go left → defeat guards
  5. Place Dark Reaver into new altar → Dark Bridge
  6. Cross and defeat guards → collect second mirror
  7. Drop to lower floor and place mirror on holder
  8. Return to slideable mirror
  9. Slide mirror down → it shines on small mirror
  10. Glide across → use Dark Reaver to open door

Complete Mirror Puzzle
  1. Back to room with statue and mirror
  2. Use Dark Reaver on statue → it lowers
  3. Rotate Large Mirror to hit Small Mirror
  4. Cross again → open door with Dark Rearver
  5. Light shines on third mirror → puzzlle continues
  6. Go to original gate → cutscene plays and opens it

Retrieve Sun Symbol
  1. Return to Sentry Eye Room
  2. Shoot Dark Reaver projectile at Eye above Sun Symbol
  3. Run and grab Sun Symbol before Eye resets
  4. If hit, repeat all steps again
  5. Place Sun Symbol on Forge slot
  6. Cutscene triggers → get control of Raziel
  7. Use Soul Reaver on the forge
  8. Obtain Light Reaver + max HP increase



Exit Light Forge
  1. Open door behind you with Light Reaver
  2. Recharge Light Reaver on way out
  3. Use Light Reaver to open gate
  4. At staircase room → shoot Light symbol above door
  5. Use Soul Reaver on final door

  4. Fight your way through hall
  5. Enter large room → defeat all enemies to open door

Back to Cathedral
  1. Proceed through door → return to Soul Reaver Merge room
  2. Enter iron gates → long cutscene w/ Kain
  3. After scene, enter door on the left
  4. Reach mural room → take right-side exit
  5. Defeat enemies → enter courtyard from start of game
  6. Defeat enemies → proceed down hallway
  7. Fight 2 guards + dog to unlock door
  8. Turn left, go through large double doors near Light Reaver charger
  9. You’re back in the starting chamber

Time Streaming Device
  • Use Light Reaver to shoot pink orb above the left door.
  • Enter for cutscene with Moebius, Raziel time-travels.
  • Exit via only door, checkpoint activates.

Sarafan Stronghold (Future)
  • Defeat enemies, exit south double doors.
  • Go through right bars in hallway - beware of Wraiths in both realms.
  • Cross courtyard, take far side door.
  • Enter the Sarafan Portrait Room, exit north.
  • Defeat 2 large enemies to remove energy barrier.
  • Cutscene reveals you're in Nosgoth’s future.
  • Proceed west through cathedral, out back door.
  • Cutscene: Raziel meets Moebius' spirit.
  • Defeat 3 big enemies to lift green barrier.
  • Swim out of the stronghold to reach next area.

The Southern Lake
  • Optional: Use save point across from Stronghold entrance.
  • From lake edge, jump left, high-jump, then glide across.
  • Follow forested path, defeating emnemies.
  • Run up a slanted pillar over water, glide to next ledge.
  • Activate checkpoint near the stream.
  • Go left, up stairs, glide over broken bridge, open double doors.

The Pillars
  • Cutscene: Raziel speaks with Ariel.
  • Try to proceed-fight massive Wraith (un-stunnable).
  • Defeat another Wraith to remove green barrier.
  • Use Blue Portal to shift back to Material Realm.
  • Checkpoint on right of the path.
  • Use Soul Reaver to open giant door with Raziel-like image.
  • Enter hallway leading to next zone.
Events Post-Light Forge Flashback
Subterranean Ruins
  • Defeat Shadow enemies using Soul Reaver.
  • Reach the second Pillars chamber-cutscene with Elder God.
  • Fight 2 large Wraiths after the scene.
  • Use save point near the Elder God.
  • Dive into water with 2 lamps-underwater tunnel.
  • Emerge, take ramp right, jump to platform, follow path up and down.
  • Recharge Dark Reaver.
  • Jump into water around statue, find another lit tunnel.
  • Emerge, fight Shadow, dive again on other side.
  • Find another tunnel, surface and jump out.
  • Glide across to glowing crystal ledge, jump up again.
  • Glide to ledge with Dark Reaver symbol.
  • Insert Dark Reaver into altar → Dark Bridge appears.
  • Cross bridge, defeat large enemy to remove green wall.
  • Continue, find climbing wall to the right.
  • Climb and circle hole rim to next area.

Swamp
  • Checkpoint ahead; enemies are bizarre-looking.
  • Examine Time Streaming Devicge door → cutscene: break the seal.
  • Follow stepping stones right → fight human enemy.
  • Through arch, loop around in a U → more enemies.
  • Save point nearby; right path → more humans.
  • Cutscene: mountains open for passage.
  • Climb wall, proceed through mountain pass.
  • Checkpoint activates at the end.

Uschtenheim
  • Jump down to the waterfall area past the checkpoint.
  • Defeat 5 enemies, then climb the wall to the left of the waterfall.
  • Follow the rainy path, defeat 2 large enemies to clear blue wall.
  • Continue to next cavern, climb or use ramp to reach archway.
  • High jump to top of archway, defeat 2 guards, pull lever to open gate.
  • Enter village, defeat large enemy, follow street to the save point.
  • Go around save point building, through open gate, defeat large enemy.
  • Drop down into ambush of ~7 enemies, clear them.
  • Glide to platform with enemy, knock him off, then reach cannon enemy’s ledge.
  • Climb wall behind cannon, proceed to next blue barrier.
  • Defeat 2 large enemies to remove it, checkpoint & Kain cutscene.
  • Head left to Light Reaver platform, climb up wall.
  • Fight enemies, climb wall to Dark Reaver recharge.
  • Defeat 3 large enemies, checkpoint & door with Sentry Eye.
  • Use Dark Reaver to blind Eye, shoot again to open door.
  • Enter the Air Forge.

Air Forge

Buckle up, this will be the longest puzzle of the game.

Entry & Setup
  • Use Light Reaver recharge behind stairs.
  • Stand on Light Reaver symbol and shoot golden spot.
  • Glide across to next platform.
  • Shift to Spectral Realm to pass the gate.
  • Find checkpoint near Blue Portal, shift back to Material Realm.

Entering the Forge
  • Defeat 2 large enemies blocking the path.
  • Clear the next room to get Blue Air Forge symbol.
  • Use symbol to unlock door and enter main Air Forge chamber.
  • Drop down, open Soul Reaver door, defeat enemies.
  • Get another Blue Forge symbol and open next door.

Unlocking Wind Tunnel 1
  • After cutscene, shift to Spectral, climb face-carved block.
  • Shift back to Material, use air vent to jump across to Dark side.
  • Open air vent on Dark side, recharge Dark Reaver.
  • Return to Light side, go upstairs, shoot Sentry Eye, pass hallway.
  • Use Dark Reaver on altar to create Dark Bridge.
  • Return to Light side, open its air vent too.
  • Go back to Dark side, open door with Light Reaver.
  • Cross Dark Bridge, shoot glowing yellow spot → Get Blue Heart.
  • Drop to lowest floor, place Blue Heart → Wind Tunnel 1 Active.

Unlocking Wind Tunnel 2
  • Climb Light Reaver wall, open door, defeat enemies.
  • Get Air Forge symbol, open door, climb structure near Purple Flame altar.
  • Shift to Spectral, glide to Blue Portal, return to Material.
  • Recharge Dark Reaver, reactivate Dark Bridge.
  • Recharge Light Reaver, cross Dark Bridge again.
  • Glide using pillars and air current to golden ball platform.
  • Shoot glowing gold spot → Get Green Heart.
  • Return to lowest floor, place Green Heart → Wind Tunnel 2 Active.

Unlocking Wind Tunnel 3
  • Recharge Dark Reaver, climb Dark wall, open door, defeat enemies.
  • Get Air Forge symbol, open door, climb wall.
  • Avoid Sentry Eye, use block to reach upper gate.
  • Open gate with Dark Reaver, blind Eye again.
  • Quickly switch to Light Reaver and run past Eye.
  • Glide to glowing room, shoot yellow orb → Get Orange Heart.
  • Return to lowest floor, place Orange Heart → Wind Tunnel 3 Active.

Activating the Air Forge
  • Use updraft to reach giant snake mouth at the top.
  • Shoot yellow orb (Light) and purple orb (Dark) on the statues.
  • Switch Reavers to activate both orbs.
  • Stab Soul Reaver into Forge → Gain Air Reaver + Max Health Upgrade.



Exit Path
  • Use Air Reaver on 3-circle altar → Updraft launches you to pipe.
  • Cross pipe to checkpoint.
  • Use Air Reaver projectile to break cracked door.
  • Proceed to next Soul Reaver door and open it.
Events After the Air Reaver
Return to Uschtenheim
  • Reach closed gate, high jump, defeat guards, pull lever.
  • Save at nearby point.
  • Reopen main Uschtenheim gate using lever.
  • Backtrack toward Swamp & Time Stream Device.

Swamp Revisit
  • Enter Swamp, checkpoint.
  • Pass 2 archways, reach next checkpoint.
  • Use Air Reaver projectile on Time Device’s door.
  • Plunge Air Reaver into altar - activates updraft.
  • Glide over pit, follow circujlar path, enter doors.
  • Arrive at Time Stream Device.

Time Streaming Device
  • Activate the Time Streaming Device (purple orb) - cutscene triggers.
  • Exit behind you, activate the Checkpoint, follow circular path to jump down.
  • Climb the wall, exit through next door - another cutscene.
  • You arrive in:

The Swamp
  • Retrace steps through the Swamp back toward Uschtenheim.
  • Use Save Point. After it, cutscene triggers (Raziel sees his destiny).
  • Go right to the Air Reaver Altar - stab the Air Reaver to create updraft.
  • Glide to ledge, go through opening, activate Checkpoint.
  • Cutscene: Sarafan Warriors appear. Defeat them.
  • Climb wall on right, proceed while defeating enemies.
  • In large room with 6 enemies:
    - Kill 3 magic users with Soul Reaver first.
    - Then kill melee enemies.
  • Climb left path or rear wall to enter:

Uschtenheim
  • High jump onto archway, kill enemy, pull lever to open gate.
  • Head to back gate of the city. Use Save Point if needed.
  • Open second gate. Proceed to circular room with 4 enemies.
  • High jump to NW ledge, climb wall, follow path to Save Ploint.
  • Watch Janos Audron cutscene. Drop onto frozen lake.
  • Shift to Spectral Realm, drop through ice hole, find tunnel north.
  • Enter tunnel, shift to Material Plane via Blue Portal.
  • Swim to end, surface into Janos Audron’s Retreat.
Endgame: Final Confrontation
Janos Audron’s Retreat
Another long puzzle. Go take a leak if necessary. All right? All done? Let's go.

Initial Room & Pool Puzzle
  • Avoid Sentry Eye, activate checkpoint on the left.
  • Go up ramp, glide to platform with Air Reaver recharge.
  • Shoot cracked wall with Air Reaver projectile, drop into lake.
  • Defeat 2 Sarafan, activate nearby Air Reaver Altar.
  • Glide to next platform, kill Sarafan, use Dark Reaver recharge.
  • Return to central room, shoot Sentry Eye with Dark Reaver, grab Urn.
  • Scoop blood from central pool, go upstairs, pour into upper pool.
  • Ramp forms - follow to Light Reaver recharge.

First Bridge & First Red Door
  • Jump/glide to platform with red circle and door.
  • Align and shoot 2 pink orbs with Light Reaver - lowers bridge.
  • Cross bridge, kill enemy for Red Shield, unlock Red Door.
  • Get second Urn, fill with blood, go through Red Door, pour into new pool.

Air Reaver Puzzle Segment
  • Use Air Reaver recharge, activate nearby Air Altar.
  • Ride updraft, go upstairs, break cracked wall with Air Reaver.
  • Break second cracked wall, drop to ground, activate Air Altar again.
  • Use Light Reaver recharge, return via updraft to upper ledge.
  • Align second pair of pink orbs, shoot with Light Reaver - lowers bridge.
  • Cross, find another empty pool - fill it with blood.

Second Red Door & Disc Puzzle
  • Use Dark Reaver recharge, return to prior Red Door area.
  • Shoot Sentry Eye with Dark Reaver, kill enemy for Red Shield, escape.
  • Use second Red Shield on earlier locked door - another blood pool.
  • Fill pool, return to lower Air Reaver recharge.
  • Ride updraft, go upstairs, face wall with golden Air Reaver disc.
  • Destroy disc with Air Reaver.
  • Use updraft again, shoot third pink orb pair behind the disc.
  • Cross bridge, use Red Shield on door.

Final Red Door & Janos Cutscene
  • Glide across gap, kill enemy for third Red Shield.
  • Use it on final Red Door, find blood pool - fill it.
  • Get new blood, cross bridge to final pool - fill it.
  • Go upstairs, open final Light Reaver door.
  • Cutscene: Janos Audron appears.
  • After cutscene, proceed to next area.


Fire Forge
Yet another long puzzle. Not as long as the other ones, but still. It'll be the last one, I promise.
Preparation & First Puzzle
  • WARNING: Known glitch zone - save before starting the puzzle.
  • Pick up Torch from back of room and ignite it.
  • Platforms rise - glide across to Fire Pot #1.
  • Light Fire Pot #1 to unlock Light Reaver recharge] and 3 Air Altars.
  • Use Light Reaver to shoot large pink ceiling crystal - drains blood.
  • Quickly use Air Reaver recharge below.
  • Thrust Air Reaver into one of the 3 altars (preferably the farthest one).
  • Updraft pillars rise - glide up to Fire Pot #2.

Fire Pot #2 & Forge Access
  • Pick up torch again, glide down using air streams (avoid blood).
  • Ignite torch, glide back up, light Fire Pot #2.
  • Swim to Fire Forge platform - Save Point is nearby.
  • Shoot ceiling crystal again with Light Reaver to drain blood.
  • Grab torch, ignite it, ride updrafts to reach Fire Forge.
  • Light the Forge brazier on center platform - activates the Forge.
  • Plunge Soul Reaver into the Forge → gain Fire Reaver + max health upgrade.



Exit & Cutscene
  • Save game again.
  • Proceed through the Fire Reaver Door.
  • Cutscene: Raziel sees the Heart of Darkness torn from Janos.
  • Human Raziel sees Wraith Raziel.
  • Scene shifts to: Return to Uschtenheim.

Uschtenheim
  • Cutscene triggers on frozen lake - objective: reclaim Janos' heart & the Soul Reaver.
  • Defeat 2 demon enemies from the future.
  • Work through Uschtenheim, watching future-demon cutscenes.
  • Use Save Point if needed. Head toward:

Swamp
  • Jump down wall, defeat enemies.
  • Optional Save Point to the left.
  • Continue through swamp - expect more large enemies + cutscenes.
  • Activate Checkpoint. Enter:

Subterranean Ruins
  • Now dry - no swimming needed.
  • Reach large statue room. Defeat demon enemies.
  • Find Air Reaver Recharge on wall and Air Altar at center.
  • Charge & activate altar, glide to top of statue.
  • Climb wall at top, high jump right to ledge.
  • Jump/glide left two more times to final ledge.
  • Climb wall on left side of room, follow path.
