The Steel Ball Run

The sky thundered as four contenders roared to life on the starting line, eagerly awaiting the countdown. With a great roaring of engines, they were off! One lap in, disaster struck—first one, then another contestant fell out of the race, their engines failing in the hot desert air. Only two remained: the sleek, single-engined Me 209, piloted by the indomitable Nitty Gritty, and the nimble twin-engined DH.44 Blossom, helmed by the cheerful Mr. MereScratch. The Blossom surged ahead early on, weaving through the turns with ease, but the Me 209 wasn’t built to chase—it was built to win. Slowly, steadily, it gained ground, meter by meter, until, on the final stretch, it screamed past in a blur of polished aluminum and blue paint. The Steel Ball Run Cup goes to NITTY GRITTY! 🏁✈️ Mr. MereScratch lands moments later, in the well-deserved second place.

This is my faithful replica of the Me 209, the record-shattering speed demon that claimed the world title in 1939—a record that stood unbeaten for 30 years. Buckle up and enjoy the ride! 🏆🔥

🛫 How to Use:

Disconnect the fuel hose from the pressurizer cart and store it in the empty inventory slot on the cart.
Note: This cart contains useful equipment and pressurizes the fuel tanks before launch to ensure maximum range.
Enter the pilot’s seat. Flip the ignition switch (center panel).
Hold the starter until the engine comes to life, then release.
Pull Up, the aircraft is in takeoff configuration by default—it will take off on its own as long as you hold S.
Once airborne, retract the landing gear (top left of panel).
Push the throttle forward to full, then enable the engine radiators (top right of panel). You’re now ready to race!

⚙️ Optional Features:

Oxygen injection: Switch is located bottom of the main panel—adds ~5 knots of speed boost.
Front spotlight: Toggle just below the landing gear switch—ideal for night operations. 🔦
Flight modes: Multiple optional flight assist/arcade/mouse control modes can be toggled on the pilot’s seat for different handling. ✨
