VINV Anthem Class Ballistic Frigate

The Vyrdraedan-hailing "Anthem" class Ballistic frigate, first fielded in 2189, has been continuously improved on and redesigned countless times by the various empires that would employ it over it's nearly half-millenium existence. It's current Iteration, the VINV Anthem Block R class Ballistic frigate boasts quick reaction speeds, bolstered armor, and numerous countermeasures, complimented by two over-under 152mm single ETC cannons firing Blacksteel Grade A solid core penetrators at a rate of fire of 50 RPM and at speeds of upwards of 3,000 meters a second(Depending on propellant mode selected) as well as a rear bay of 24 CRE-702U Curvebal missiles and a front bay of 32 CRE-014AB Interdictor S2A missiles, further enhancing it's retaliatory and first strike capabilities. due to all of this hardware however, it's top speed is slightly less of it's Corin class multirole and Blackout class Assault frigate sisters. Despite it's stout Ballistic capabilities; the ship class heavily specializing in ballistic methods of striking targets such as missile systems; is one of three Vyrdraedan Interstellar ship classes that is also capable of in-atmosphere operations. There is plenty of debate within Vyrdraeda's military leadership on the specifics of this ability, and whether or not it is really needed within ships of the Interstellar Naval forces, especially with the onset of the revival of in-atmosphere ships purpose built for the task; a revival of an old war strategy. (Even though these clean-burning uplift thrusters can provide a strategic advantage in maneuverability, it comes under scrutiny for not adhering to the already present multi-axis movement systems that all Vyrdraedan interstellar naval vessels employ.)

Currently, there are over 324 Anthem Class frigates in circulation, forming the metaphorical and venerated backbone of Vyrdraeda's Strategic Garrison. Latest news from the Department of Naval Aquisitions hints at an up-and-coming MKR Master Kit Refit arriving for all Block C through R Anthem classes, meaning that not only is the Vyrdraedan Interstellar Navy seeking to replace this old battleaxe of a ship class, but has already analysed it's strategic gaps between retrofits, and is preparing to send this ship class off in it's sunday best. Better weaponry, equipment, engines, auxiliaries, defense grids, and so on.
