SORIAN AMALGAM

I remember the first time I visited House Soria, many years ago. Lush gardens; courtyards and cloisters; and vast chambers filled with light, in shades of green and turquoise so distinctive that the House alchemists had all but patented it. I was invited to view the production workshop, albeit from behind thick glass, and with everything more interesting (or dangerous) than a few simple compounds conspicuously tidied away.

It wasn't until many years later that I encountered Sorian Amalgam; a curious alloy which, while not obviously more useful than any other, is still recognizable to those with knowledge of our Art by its distinctive lustre. After much study, I have concluded that the alloy's purpose is more akin to a brand or insignia—an identifying seal, for those who know what to look for.

In an age marred by inter-House warfare and territorial conflicts, it is a comfort to know that there are some who stake their claims in gentler, more sophisticated ways.
