Alfa Romeo ( Alfa Romeo Automobiles SpA ),abbreviated Alfa,is an Italian manufacturer of premium automobiles.The company was founded by French engineer and entrepreneur Alexandre Darracq under the name ALFA ( Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili ) on June 24,1910 in Milan.Italian engineers such as Ugo Stella and Nicola Romeo took part in the founding of the company.

Since its foundation,Alfa Romeo has been involved in motor racing.

In 1911 ALFA took part in the Targa Florio race with drivers Franchini and Ronzoni in two ALFA 24 HP models.

Alfa Romeo has competed successfully in many major motor racing series and championships, including Grand Prix racing , Formula One , IndyCar racing , Touring car racing and rally racing. The company has also competed in the Constructors' Championship in various racing series under the team names Alfa Corse and/or Autodelta . It has also raced under other brands and supplied engines to various racing teams. Alfa Romeo won its first World Grand Prix Championship in 1925. Under the brand's auspices, Enzo Ferrari founded the Scuderia Ferrari racing team , which was an Alfa Romeo team before becoming independent in 1939.
