Wulfrun

Description
A custom character for Don't Starve.

I am, by no means, a coder or mod-maker, and I'm sure as shine not an artist. I made this in my free time for fun, but I figured I'd post it here for posterity's sake. That being said, feel free to post any criticism you may have regarding the mod. On to the content:

This is a custom character for Don't Starve (including any/all of the DLCs). Her statistics are as follows:

Health: 150 Hunger: 150 Sanity: 200

Perk 1: Wulfrun is unable to eat normal foodstuff, and instead consumes nightmare fuel, evil flower petals, and special "essences" which she is able to craft while at an alchemy engine. She begins with a unique dagger, which does little damage, but causes killed enemies to drop nightmare fuel. The amount of fuel depends on the maximum health of the enemy, and particularly weak enemies won't drop any fuel at all. Wulfrun has reduced (x0.85) base damage. Lastly, she can see normally in total darkness and gains sanity during the night or when underground.

Perk 2: Wulfrun can begin sneaking at any time by pressing the Z key (can be changed via mod configuration). While sneaking, Wulfrun has reduced movement speed. If she is not in direct sunlight (not underground during the day), Wulfrun will gain several benefits. Her base damage will increase (x1.2), she will become undetectable to many (but not all) enemies, and prey (such as rabbits) will not run from her and can be picked up by hand. Enemies that have already been alerted by Wulfrun will not be fooled by stealth.

Perk 3: Wulfrun has a natural aversion to sunlight. When in direct sunlight, she has reduced maximum health and can't use her stealth ability (see perk 2). She additionally loses sanity during these times. She also suffers from light-blindness: if struck by lightning, her night-vision will be disabled until she changes worlds or the start of a new night.

DLC: In the Hamlet DLC, Wulfrun can use her stealth while under the canopy or indoors. This will also protect her from sanity drain. Using stealth, she is able to steal from pigs without alerting the guards, assuming she isn't too close to them. She can craft additional essences depending on which DLCs are enabled. If the Shipwrecked or Hamlet DLCs are enabled, she will gain an effect similar to coffee when consuming rabbit essence.

Credits: The font used in Wulfrun's portrait is by Stanley Roland Frantz. The extended character template, as well as more tutorials than I can count, were used to help make this mod.
DISCLAIMER: Some of the art used in this mod was made with the help of AI image generation. No artwork is straight AI generated, but it was used has a guide. I used Hotpot.ai to generate images.

Known Bugs and Issues:
-Dialogue is incomplete and defaults to Wilson's dialogue when inspecting certain items.
-More essences need to be added.
-Minor issue with mini-signs: The custom items introduced in this mod appear invisible.
-(FIXED) I've noticed occasional crashes when generating the ruins for the first time. This is minor as you can simply reopen the game and pick up where you left off, but I'm unsure of why this happens.

At the request of a Steam User, I've made an alternate version that allows you to befriend shadow creatures: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3558575728

Good Ideas, overall. I probably will change the recipes to use nightmare fuel (and make nightmare fuel a weaker food item to encourage essence crafting), as gold was more of a placeholder anyway. There are definitely more creatures I could use, such as moles or butterflies, but I want each essence be unique. I actually already have an essence for the cormorant, but its crafting is disabled because of an issue with it that I need to fix.

I do like your idea with the pig and merm heads. I might allow some special crafting with them during a full moon, or something like of that nature.

In fact, the game provides two things that are very suitable for "essences" materials - "Pig Head" and "Merm Head". Remember that they open their eyes and drop nightmare fuel during the full moon? Maybe Pig Skin and Frog Legs are quite adaptable to Nightmare Fuel.

@ckinderknecht11 But if you want to know some of my suggestions...

Add an option to use Nightmare Fuel instead of Gold Nuggets. After all, in some situations, Gold Nuggets are scarce, while Wulfrun encourages people to use her dagger to obtain Nightmare Fuel.

Perhaps Glowflies and those annoying Rabid Beetles could be made into "essences," allowing characters to eat them to make the creatures remain neutral toward us.

It could be said that all creatures that can be put into a backpack could be made into "essences," each with corresponding unique abilities, though this would certainly require a lot of time.
For example:

Moleworm could provide random minerals when mining.

Parrot Pirate could generate a treasure on the map, like the Lucky Hat.

Seagull could provide waterproofing.

Cormorant... um, it... could provide some fish eggs or fish.

@我不是DDC Alright, I've made some changes, I'll update the other version of the mod when I get the time. Please let me know what you think!

@我不是DDC Yeah, sure thing. As I said, I'm currently attending college and working a job, so my time is semi-limited, but I've been writing more dialogue on the side for Wulfrun, and I should be able to make some more essences up for you soon.

@ckinderknecht11 Author, could you make Wulfrun's "essences" crafting add some unique creatures from Hamlet? Thanks.

Alright, the first version is done. You can find a link to an alternate mod here on the mod page. Let me know what you think.

Alright, I've got some free time, so I'll try getting a version for you up and running soon.

That being said, it certainly could be done. I'm in college, so my time might be limited, but I'll see.
