Does the mod not work when you have mods such as UI Enhancer installed because I've tried with it and it doesn't seem to work for me.

Honestly a gem of a mod.

you have to request the amount of the things you need in stock tab, make sure you actually have what your requesting, then when you requested it go to the map tab and click on the barge and then click way points on the window that appears from there you drag way points to the pickup location and for the barge to start filling its inventory you have to set the destination to you're ship and from there the barge will automatically fill up on the things you requested to its inventory and automatically come to you. two things to be were of are; the barge doesn't avoid enemies so beware of islands and possible ship locations, and you can set multiple pickup locations as long as they end up at you're carrier.
