Grave Bridge
WWII 1944 Terrain – Operation Market Garden, Netherlands

Grave Bridge
Grave Bridge, spanning the Maas River in the Netherlands, was a critical objective during Operation Market Garden, the largest airborne assault of World War II. On September 17, 1944, the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division successfully captured the bridge intact, preventing its destruction by retreating German forces. This allowed Allied armor to push north toward Nijmegen and Arnhem in an ambitious bid to outflank the Siegfried Line and end the war by Christmas.

The surrounding area saw intense fighting as American paratroopers secured the village of Grave and pushed east toward the Maas-Waal Canal, encountering resistance from German units dug in across farms, road junctions, and woodland. The capture and defense of Grave Bridge was pivotal in linking Allied forces with the British XXX Corps advancing from the south.

Editor's note: This is an all new terrain - I will keep the old verson of Grave on STEAM workshop as not to disrupt people's files. This terrain features 31 unique locations with a focal point in the center. Grave Bridge itself is cosmetic and the troops will not cross. I was a bit inspired by a few sources, mainly 1943 Library of Congress map references.

Points of Interest:

Grave Bridge:
The central landmark of this terrain, the bridge was captured in a daring assault by the 504th PIR. It features accessible bunkers, demolition scaffolding, and riverside defenses.

Town of Grave:
A small historic town with narrow streets and dense buildings. Used by both U.S. and German troops for cover and ambushes during the initial engagements and counterattacks.

Would be amazing if you can make Anrhem-Oosterbeek map like this!!!
SierraopsLi 1 Oct @ 10:42am
@Flak_Reg_49 I wouldn't that as it wouldn't be historically accurate. Operation Market Garden wasn't as a battle as the Battle of Normandy was. What is has now is historically accurate. Grave did have some trenches and ditches but not so much as Normandy has

Love the map job wel done!

I woud suggest to use the ground textures from the original SPE Normandie map, because they looks like better and more realistic if you jump down with a parachute.

I see a lot of progression in the quality of your maps! Awesome stuff.

I believe this is the best Market Garden map on the workshop yet, and it was desperately needed!
