Upon launching the game on Windows 10 or after you have reinstated Games for Windows Live using other guides & auxiliary information on the internet you will need to create a GFWL profile in order to save any progress. This account does not have to be online or singed into with an email & password.

When you have launched the game you will have the Games for Windows Live interface overlaying the game, if this has not occurred you can access the interface with your Home key on the keyboard.

Once the interface has been opened you will need to select "create new profile" from the three options available.


Once selected you'll be met with a wall of text and the GFWL logo. While it is faint, there is a scroll wheel and you'll need to scroll to the bottom of the field to find the highlighted text "create a local profile".

Click on the aforementioned text and you will move to profile name field that will need to be filled out. Once filled, you will be shown the profile and from there you can exit the GFWL interface and play the game. There will be a notification about not being able to earn achievements but that is irrelevant to this guide, a GFWL account and retaining save progression.


All save data for the first character will be saved to the this profile. The second character in the campaign will need to have its own GFWL profile if you are playing splitscreen/multiplayer.

Upon relaunching the game you will need to select the created GFWL account using the GFWL interface.


When loading the game or in the start screen, open the GFWL interface if it has not been already by using the HOME key on your keyboard. From the three options available select "Sign In".


Doing so will open a profile select interface where you can select the created profile. Once selected you can continue with your save & progress intact. You may be met with an email & password screen, if this is the case you can select "ok" from the options and be met with failed to sign in notice. Simply repeat the aforementioned account selection process or relaunch the game and try again.


Once you have signed into the Local Profile that we have created using the guide, you are free to play the game without the fear of losing save progression, as many in the reviews have shared.
