LAPA FA-03 Assault Rifle
The LAPA FA-03 is a rare Brazilian bullpup assault rifle, developed in the late 1970s by designer Nelmo Suzano for the LAPA (Laboratório de Projetos de Armamento Automático). Chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO, it was one of the first fully polymer-bodied assault rifles, decades ahead of its time. Featuring a compact bullpup layout, selective fire capability, and lightweight construction, the FA-03 was innovative but never adopted due to Brazil’s military preferences and political circumstances. Today, it stands as a symbol of visionary design and lost potential in firearms history.
