Elder Kraken

Description
Rejoice, land-dwellers! The Rising Tide is here. The Kraken have come to return your pitiful world to the blessed sea.

A class mod adding the Elder Kraken.

> A vast selection of custom monsters - many with (repainted) custom sprite work.
> New rituals and commanders.
> Mature Krakens can lay eggs in human hosts, slowly transforming them through multiple separate monster stages before becoming Kraken Hatchlings.
> Can upgrade hatchlings into a variety of specialised kraken units.
> Uses Sacrifices to transform tiles into ocean, increase its bless power, and summon skeletons puppeted by kraken eggs.
> Uses Hands to summon in increasingly powerful monsters and break the seal placed upon the Elder Kraken.
> Freespawn more kraken and fishmen units as the seals are broken.
> Gains access to a whole new suite of monster recruits after capturing a port.

I recommend you play on Huge , Empire, and Duke or higher difficulty. Your mileage with other settings may vary.

Basic strategy guide: I would recommend using your starting Mature Kraken's Lay Eggs ritual to start freespawning minions that you can pawn off to your Hatchery Tender. Take your tender and its army and start expanding, prioritising sacrifices. Once you have enough, immediately use the Rising Tide ritual. It will grant you 2 decent infantry, and most importantly, start converting a tile to ocean. Once you've converted 5 tiles, the Abyssal Gate will spawn in your home territory. Use Hands to summon monsters with your commanders, but be sure to save plenty to break the seals with your new gate.

Feedback is hugely appreciated! Balance suggestions, new ideas, spelling corrections, anything at all! Drop it in the comments below. This is my first mod for anything ever! I am quite proud of it.

Also could you make some or all of the units move at half difficulty on sea/river tiles(1 for 1, instead of 2 movement for 1 tile).

Apart from not being able to lose your first mature kraken before breaking the 3rd seal(then it takes awhile depending on the number of coastal hamlets you own), I could not make a new hatchery out of a city of vice, towns, or ports. I think the city of vice was just overlooked, but I think you should make ports an option for hatcheries and/or make any town and larger settlements an option for a hatcheries if there is at least one river or sea tile next to it. That way you get more value out of the rising tides ritual instead of trying for a roughly 1/7 chance to get blessings. It would make the places you use the rising tides ritual more meaningful instead of turning every tile possible into water since the price is cheap and never increases(like over blessing rituals).

Overall pretty fun, but a few small changes would make the class less clunky and more consistent, which would allow you to use it in more eras.

Okay, so how do I get new kraken if my first one died, and I don't have enough sacrifices, and no sacrifice income without kraken?

When I broke the 3rd seal, the "Lay Hatchery" ritual was not permitted because I was on the city of scribes.

Couldn't lay any new hatcheries in cities, towns, or the conquered citadels of other factions. Had to come here to see how to power scale and didn't realize using Rising Tide was required. Managed to win my game however I kept losing my Mature/Elder Krakens because they're always in front and some of the first to get attacked, even with a weapon/2 accessories they'd usually die to something with retribution style attacks or high HP. Couldn't get any more Mature/Elder Krakens due to Hatchery tenders/Priests not being able to make hatcheries in cities either. Otherwise 7/10 faction I had fun with the Fel hatchling and making Kraken Things the most because they wouldn't just rush in and die.

really fun flavor, i loved carving rivers and evolving krakens. The mountain and bog rituals are awesome ways to allow other terrain to be swept away. I did find one bug which is that after the 5th seal is broken you get infinite hatchspawn. When offered they are free and do not remove themselves from the recruitment list or fill that turn's recruitment, so i can make as many hatchspawn as i want, into the thousands.

@Karkino

Unless you're facing a bug, laying a new hatchery will reward you with one Mature Kraken. If your starter Kraken dies, you can get new ones by unlocking the fifth seal from the abyssal gate rituals.

okay after playing this mod. a crab edition is useless since most of the army consists of crustaceans (or that was the best way to keep fighting after my kraken commander died at the start) also. a way to get another kraken commander. or if there is i was to blind and didnt realized that

fishmen soldiers currently have a trident attack and a spear attack, I imagine this is intended to be a trident attack and bite attack as the other fishmen have?
