Introduction
Howdy howdy!

I decided I wanted to make a tier list for the attributes, so here we are. These are my personal rankings, but I always welcome new opinions and perspectives, so if you feel like my rankings need to be tweaked, be sure to comment!

All attributes will be ranked out of 5 stars, pretty generic. I'll be putting the Edges (Costs points), Hindrances (Removes points), and Nulls (Neither costs nor removes points) in different sections. I'll also have a build section at the bottom.
Edges
  • Steady Aim [Stacks] ★★★★★
    Cost: 2 Points
A lot of situations in this game come down to who hits who first. Reducing sway means you're more likely to hit them. Despite stacking, I think 1 stack is more than enough, though you could really get a second if you'd like. Three or more I think would be a waste.

  • Lucky Looter ★★★★☆
    Cost: 2 Points
I always run this Edge, so it's hard for me to say how much it affects loot drop. That being said, combining this with a crowbar means that you can get more loot than you can carry usually. If you can afford it, I recommend grabbing it.

  • Lock Smith [Stacks] ★★★★☆
    Cost: 1 Point
Increases your odds of lock picks actually working. This is useless for small locks because you have crowbars, but there are some doors that let you skip entire dungeons, so putting a point or two into this Edge can help.

  • Confident Lie ★★★★☆/★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: 1 Point
I haven't done much with disguises, so I can't speak for this one too heavily. However. if you plan on using disguises, this Edge can be pretty great. This can allow you in places that you would otherwise be killed on sight for, and can even use it to nab some loot. If you plan on actually using disguises, this can be a really nice grab. If you don't care about disguises, don't even bother.

  • Speed Boost[Stacks] ★★★☆☆
    Cost: 1 Point
For every tier of Speed Boost, your base movement speed goes up by 10%. Seems just alright on the surface, but this translates into you being able to bring more gear without slowing down too much. For example, If you have Speed Boost 2, you can move at 100% when you'd move at 80% without. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it really can help.

  • Intense Personality [Stacks] ★★★☆☆
    Cost: 1 Point
Probably the most balanced Edge there is. Despite the rating, I wouldn't really recommend it. This increases both the reputation you gain, as well as the reputation you lose. First tier multiplies it by 2, second tier multiplies it by 3, and so on. The reason I don't like this Edge is because every now and then, you may hit an ally, or in the crossfire you end up killing an ally. It can really hurt your reputation normally, but with Intense Personality, it gets even worse. It's a pretty neat-o Edge though, so you can totally run it for the bit if you wanna skyrocket your reputation.

  • Sneaky ★★★☆☆
    Cost: 2 Points
If you feel like being a sneeki breeki, it can't hurt. I have had very bad luck with stealth in this game, so if you want to actually be stealthy this is a nice one.

  • Regen Boost [Stacks] ★★☆☆☆
    Cost: 2 Points
Slightly better than Collector, but not by much. I find that the meds that give you 4x Health Regen rate to be abundant, I usually have at least 30 on me because I rarely need them. This is also 2 points, which is insane compared to other 2 point Edges like Steady Aim and Lucky Looter. Ultimately, its an Edge that gets outdone by a healing item that you can quickly get more than you know what to do with them.

  • Collector [Stacks[/b]] ★★☆☆☆
    Cost: 3 Points
This Edge increases your chances of finding Artifacts. It's uh... It's alright. It's just very pricey, in my opinion. Maybe just skip it.

  • Brawler [Stacks] ★★☆☆☆
    Cost: 2 Points
This can be a fun Edge, but melee can be rough when people are shooting at you with bullets from a gun. I find melee damage to be pretty good already, the scrappy fellers go down in 2 or 3 heavy hits from most melee weapons, and can go down in 1 heavy hit from weapons like the crowbar, fire axe, sledgehammer, etc.

  • Haggler [Stacks] ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: 2 Points
Way too expensive. Prices in shops really aren't really that steep in the first place, so I don't see a reason to get this one. Go ahead and pass.

  • High Jump [Stacks] ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: 1 Point
To be honest, I've never found a ledge that I needed to get on that was too high for a regular jump, or even a crouch jump. The Hindrances in this game are (for the most part) impactful enough that it isn't worth spending a point on this. Here's a comparison, if you're curious[i.imgur.com]. (Steam compressed way too much to insert)

  • Swift-Paw ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: 2 Points
Lets you move faster while crouching. Maybe could work with Sneaky, but comparing the buffs you get from Sneaky compared to this, I feel like the 2 points are better spent in Sneaky.

  • Nudist ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: 1 Point
Makes you jump higher and sprint speed when not wearing armor. You want armor to not die. Bullets move faster than you can sprint. Do not take.

  • Eather Affinity [Stacks] ★☆☆☆☆/★★★☆☆
    Cost: 5 Points
    Okay.
    Hear me out.
Eather Affinity is pretty bonkers. It can be really, really strong. It can make you insanely ammo efficient with Eather weapons. With some Eather batteries, you can fuel all your weapons and not worry about running out.
So why is this either 1 star, or 3?
Because it cost FIVE POINTS. That is insanely pricey, especially because you can get this effect from artifacts later on. You can get a lot of good Edges for 5 points, so its really hard to really recommend it. If you want to go for an Eather-focused build, it can be pretty good, but you'll be taking some pretty big downsides to be able to afford it. You can either take the downsides and get a good start, plus the stacking means you can benefit from artifacts, or you can simply not take it and use artifacts.

  • Intimidation [Stacks] 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
    Cost: 1 Point
This Edge is really, really funny. Making enemies panic when they see you, there's a chance for enemies to panic and run away. It has mechanical benefits of course, so taking a single tier can't hurt. But if you really wanna have some fun, put 2 or 3 tiers into it. I have a build specifically for Intimidation at the end, which is about just making people freak out. It's great.
Nulls
  • Weird Luck ?????
Straight from the description, "All probability curves are made flatter." The best description of this Null that I've seen is just that "everything happens more." This is a goofy Null, and I can't really rate it with stars. It just... Makes everything happen more. Good or bad.

  • Gourmand [STACKS] ★★★☆☆
Hot food food more, cold food food less. You'll be doing a lot of cooking on a pot as you go, but I'm pretty sure this affects MREs, which makes it less great. If you're gonna take it, just take one tier.
Hindrances
  • Bad Swimmer [Stacks] ★★★★★
    Cost: -1 Points
I absolutely adore this Hindrance. I don't find myself swimming often, and find myself staying underwater even less. With two tiers of this, you can stay underwater for 15 seconds before you start taking damage, though you definitely move pretty darn slow. Holding your breath isn't even a huge deal, in my opinion. If you're entering a dungeon, or know you'll be swimming, just bring an oxygen tank. If you wanna compare swim speeds, here's a comparison I put together.[i.imgur.com]
  • Skinflint [Stacks] ★★★★★
    Cost: -2 Points
If you make a purchase that is more than $1000, you take "Psychic damage", which I think affects both your health and your Mental Fatigue? Though, the damage is very, very minimal. Taking a single stack of this honestly rocks. The number of purchases over $1000 I've made can be counted on one hand. Maybe you wanna grab a fancy new gun every now and then, but that isn't very frequent. If you want to buy a lot of smaller stuff (ammo, for example), just make multiple purchases below $1000! Getting 2 points for this Hindrance is a steal.

  • Hunger [Stacks] ★★★★☆
    Cost: -3 Points
In case you don't know, you can't actually die from running out of hunger. Hunger only affects the rate you regenerate health, and your movement speed. If your hunger bar hits zero, you stop naturally healing, and go from being a lizard to a turtle. Are turtles lizards...? A good tip in general but especially with this perk is to make sure you keep some food stored away in your safehouse. This can fill up your hunger after you die, but also in the morning after you sleep. MREs, while heavy, pair nicely with Hunger. Not only does it give 30 food, it also gives 10 regen as well.

  • Guilt [Stacks] ★★★☆☆
    Cost: -1 Point
Mental Fatigue is a hidden stat with a range of 0 to 100. It is reduced by 1 every time you kill a stalker (i.e, another living person), and I believe it goes down when you don't sleep. When your Mental Fatigue is low enough, you start hearing, and possibly seeing, hallucinations. They're harmless, but they're also a real pain in the ass.

Normally, killing stalkers reduces your Mental Fatigue by 1 point. Every stack of Guilt increases that by another point. Having Guilt 1 would cause you to lose 2 points, Guilt 3 would cause 3 points, and so on. It's not the worst option if you need an extra point, but it can get annoying.

  • Lodestone ★★☆☆☆
    Cost: -1 Point
Causes more anomalies to pop up around you, which is a double edged sword, really. More anomalies around you means more around enemies around you, too! But you gotta deal with more anomalies, and they can suck.

  • Insomnia ★★☆☆☆
    Cost: -1 Point
You can't pick how long you sleep. It's not the worst, but it can make it hard to wake up right at sunrise. For only giving one point, you could easily just take a point of Bad Swimmer instead.

  • Lingering Trauma ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: -1 Points
Lingering Trauma caps your Mental Fatigue at 15. This means you will always have hallucinations. It may not sound like it deserves a 1 star rating, but believe me. The suffering this Hindrance gives you is not worth the 1 point you'll get out of it.

  • Bad Cough ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: -2 Points
Makes you cough every now and then, alerting enemies around you to your location. This is uh... Yikers. Good luck ever getting the drop on someone again.

  • Thin Skin ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: -3 Points
Makes you take "slightly" more damage. You should NEVER take this, ever, unless you're trying to actively punish yourself. Compare this to Hunger: Hunger also gives you 3 points to work with, and in exchange you get hungry quicker, which can be pretty easily managed as time goes on. Thin Skin, though? Even "slightly" more damage is enough to take you down. Stray bullets can take chunks out of your health, and you can die from a burst of bullets before you can even aim down your sights without this Hindrance. You are very, very squishy in this game. You do not want to be even squishier. Avoid at all costs.

  • Hemophilia ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: -2 Points
Honestly, same problems as Thin Skin above, but this doesn't even give you 3 points. Don't take this, don't take Thin Skin. You need health, you need to heal.

  • Gun Shy [Stacks] ★☆☆☆☆
    Cost: -2 Points
You want to hit enemies with bullet! This make it harder to hit with bullet! NO TAKE!!!!!

Builds
This section is gonna talk about some fun builds you could try. Be sure to leave any builds you've found in the comments!

Scary Fella
  • Intimidation 3
  • Hunger 1
  • Optional: Gourmand/Weird Luck
This one can just be really fun. Intimidation 3 means a lot of people are just gonna freak out when they notice you, and is balanced out nicely by Hunger. Can allow you to shoot first in quite a few fights, too! I just think it's a silly fun build, really.

Hungry Looter
  • Steady Aim 1
  • Lucky Looter
  • Hunger 1
  • Skinflint 1
  • Choice: 1 Point Edge
This one increases the loot you find, makes you a better shot, and gives you a free point to spend on whatever you'd like. The drawbacks? You get stressed making purchases about $1000, and you get hungry more often. It's a pretty solid trade-off.

Doggy Paddle
  • Steady Aim 1
  • Lucky Looter
  • Bad Swimmer 2
  • Skinflint 1
Similar to the build above, but without the downside of Hunger. It's safer, but you lose that extra point. This is the one I'm running currently, and I can confirm that Bad Swimmer 2 is honestly not too bad.

Asthmatic Sniper
  • Steady Aim 1
  • Sneaky
  • Bad Swimmer 1
  • Bad Cough
  • Guilt 1
This one allows for a lot of wiggle room, so here's just a general idea. The goal is to try and pick off enemies from as far away as possible, limiting close engagement. Steady Aim and Sneaky are good for this for obvious reasons, allowing you to hit shots better as well as be sneakier. Swift-Paw can also be an option if you wanna crouch walk a lot. For Hindrances, it really isn't too important. Bad Cough I thought was thematically fitting, as well as the fact that, if you have a sniper, no one can hear your coughs. Thin Skin is an option, but I still don't suggest it. No matter how hard you try, chances are you'll get hurt sometimes. If you really want to have 6 points of Edges (Steady Aim 1, Sneaky, Swift-Paw, or just adding another level or two of Steady Aim) you'll need to have 2 Hindrances totaling -6 points. The only two that do this are Thin Skin and Hunger are the only two Hindrances that could allow this, so you could take Hunger 2 or Hunger 1 and Thin Skin.
Thank You!
Thank you for reading this guide, I really hope it helped! Please leave any feedback or builds you have in mind down below, as I do actually read them and adapt my guide.

I think you're way underrating High Jump.

If you grab tier 3 high jump, you go from being locked to the normal routes of everything to suddenly jumping from roof top to roof top, you can jump OVER most anomalies, reach the second stories of buildings with just a jump, meaning you can bypass locked doors quite frequently and even go out of bounds and reach weird spots.

It genuinely feels like playing late-game cyberpunk 2077 when you have high jump 3...

But I wouldn't bother with just 1 or 2, since most of the really absurd jumps unlock at 3

I'd say Brawler is like a 1 star unless you're Assassin. Then its like 4-5 Stars with the Rondel knife (which she starts with).

I find myself using 3 regen boosts + 2 hunger on my usual runs. I dont have the patience with default regen + meds but 3 regen boosts + meds is soo good. Then theres that pink artifact i dont remember the name thats the cherry on top.

Me personally, I like my build to be very "goblin-esque"; 3 speed boosts, 1 weird luck, and 1 thin skin. Speed is very underrated, especially when at a high number, as enemies now target the last position they saw you. This means you can properly flank in this game, and moving around a lot actually resets an enemy's aim lock (when enemies start shooting at you, particularly with automatic weapons, they'll shoot just off to the side or generally be not accurate with the first burst, but the next one will usually be dead on). When paired with the Strider Suit especially, speed can be downright OP with the right gun loadout. For me, the speed attribute is a 10/10, would demolish West Pier again .

So having High Jump makes it so you're able to train hop back and forth and use trains as a big cover mechanics.Just having 1 tier gives enough so you can hop onto the connectors between 2 trains. This also allows you to quickly kite away from wraiths since they move by ground navigation.

@Mongoose @Volk thank you two for the feedback! I modified the guide and added both of you to the thank you section :heartoful:
Volk 8 Jul @ 1:51am
What mongoose says is true - hunger also affects your sprint speed, and if you're empty, may as well be fancy jogging.

That said, Gourmand can turn two cans of beans, a frog, and a beetle or two into a nearly full hunger bar, so I view Gourmand/Hunger as a thing to make yourself engage in a stat you can otherwise ignore if you make a great habit of not dying.

Lingering Trauma is just bad, caps your minimum fatigue at 15/100 instead of 0/100, which causes audio hallucinations. Said hallucinations are usually just nothing, other than making you wig out about hearing a weird tapping. HOWEVER, one hallucination that can occur, is hearing someone reload a weapon very close by. 15/100 fatigue is also low enough for the Inner Demons to begin spawning, which can be annoying if you need to hear since those things are noise incarnate.

Guilt is just ok. Each stack adds +1 fatigue to each stalker kill, so one Guilt is +2, two Guilt is +3 etc.
Mongoose 7 Jul @ 5:16pm
If I'm not mistaken, having low/no hunger reduces your sprint speed, by a large degree if I recall. Might bear some testing to confirm, but if its true, could knock a star or two off Hunger, because running slow can be really bad at times...
Dead Horse 7 Jul @ 3:06pm
Swift Paw is a lot better than you think it is if you do big loot runs, with 1 point you can move as fast crouched as you can while running if you're extremely overweight. So you can move slightly faster and you're less likely to be targeted, has helped me out a ton on my first run through of the game. It also stacks with other movement speed buffs. I'd probably put it closer to a 3/5 than a 1.
