This mod, my first ever official faction mod, adds several factions from a hypothetical second American civil war. It is an attempt to create such factions using content largely from Arma 3's original 2035 setting. It includes factions from its own, original timeline, in which America collapses into civil war around 2029-2030, as well as recreations of factions from the Hearts of Iron 4 Mod "The Fire Rises" (TFR). It is currently a work in progress, but at the moment includes a few key factions, ranging from breakaway states to militias to insurgent movements.
Concept (for non-TFR factions)
The mod takes place in a late 2020's/early 2030's America, which has balkanized into civil war and insurgency after a decade of crisis, strain, instability, and economic malaise, finally culminating in its violent implosion by sometime around 2030.

- CURRENT FACTIONS -
- American Constitutional Government (The Fire Rises) - One of two governments claiming legitimate control over the US in TFR, led by Donald Trump and generally following his platform and ideology.

- American People's Liberation Army (The Fire Rises) - A left-wing breakaway government, one of the major factions of TFR, seeking to unite the former US under marxist rule.

- Atomwaffen Division - An extraordinarily violent and radical white supremacist faction, espousing extreme accelerationist views, seeking to collapse all of modern society, and harboring and a degree of ethnic prejiduce considered extreme even among other similiar factions. Long considered to have disbanded in the early 2020's, the group saw a significant resurgence towards the final days of America as a unified nation in the late 2020's. Economic dissaray, exploding polarization, and a crumbling standard of living all fed its resurgence. By the time America balkanized and law and order all but collapsed, their numbers swelled and they carved out swathes of territory within the chaos, now running a barely functional, highly militarized fighting force that undertakes extreme atrocities and acts of violence within its territory.

- Black Liberation Army - Initially founded as a self-defense league for African Americans as they were targeted en masse by various groups, it initially stayed true to its mission as such, but grew increasingly radical, until becoming a de facto ethnonatiionalist movement in and of itself, eventually indulging in the same ethnic violence, racial supremacism, and fanaticism as the factions it once claimed itself opposed to.

- Confederate States of America - The Confederate States of America are essentially a remaking of the original country founded by that name, which had seceded during the original civil war. It is essentially a pseudo-state mainly active in the deep south. Born out of an evolution of the Sons of the South movement, it operates on neoconfederate ideals and aesthetics, seeing itself as the successor state to the original confederacy.

- European Union Expeditionary Forces - In the wake of the United States' collapse, the European Union quickly scrambled to federalize, becoming a sort of confederation and solidifying itself as a de facto superpower. With the American military effectivley dissolved, America's presence on the world stage vanished, and the world rapidly growing deeply unstable and volatile in the power vaccum and global dissarray that followed, the EU federalized its armed forces into a powerful and formiddable force. The European Union Expeditionary Forces are a division of their army mainly tasked with venturing into the warzones of the former United States, being tasked with intelligence gathering, performing reconnisance, protecting European interests, defending and aiding civilians if neccessary, and, when needed, intervening in the civil war when the situation may affect Europe and its interests. Troops from nations around the European continent, including the UK, which frantically scrambled to rejoin the newly founded federation, now find themselves sent into America to exert and expand Europe's newfound power and influence. The EU has also established diplomatic, economic, and ideological ties with the Second Texan Republic, and they sometimes collaborate militarily across the wastelands of the former US.

- National Guard - Remnants of various national guard units that survived America's downfall.

- Second Texan Republic - The Second Texan Republic is the nation that was founded shortly after Texas' secession from the US amidst its collapse. It is among the most advanced, successful, and powerful breakaways, espousing and practicing a syncretic ideology blending social conservatism and economic progressivism. It was initially ran by a neoconservative, authoritarian governor as a struggling military dictatorship with heavy corporate influence. However, these leaders were ousted shortly thereafter by a movement espousing a new hybrid ideology. This ideology, a complex blend of social democracy, christian democracy, civic nationalism, and social conservatism, rejects both liberalism and the market fundamentalist, hyper-individualistic style of conservatism that was traditionally practiced in America, instead embracing a communitarian, collective-oriented form of conservatism, favoring both conservative social policies and progressive economic policies with a mixed-market economy. Despite criticism by liberals, lazzeis faire capitalists, socialists, and hatred from the various more radical factions within the second civil war, the republic has grown into one of, if not the most powerful brekaways, flourishing into a relatively successful, powerful, and prosperous new nation.

- Sons of The South - A neoconfederate movement, seeking to re-establish the confederacy and mainly active in the south of the former United States, with the overwhelming majority also being ethnic supremacists.

- State of America - A stand-in, generic, despotic federal government faction.

- The Movement - Partially based off of a similiar faction in The Fire Rises, the movement is a decentralized, big-tent coalition of leftist, anarchist, and left-libertarian elements, operating as a vast and sprawling insurgent group.

- Union of America (The Fire Rises) - One of two governments claiming legitimate control over the US in TFR. Led by Joe Biden and generally following his platform and ideology.

- United Nations Mission in America - A force of peacekeepers and aid workers from all over the world deployed to the former United States in the wake of its collapse. The most daunting task of the UN thus far, it has seen them more militarized than ever before in order to trasverse the unforgiving warzones of America. While limited by the dire circumstnaces, as well as severe underfunding due to the global economic crisis caused by the US' collapse, they do their best to help by protecting civilians, providing food and shelter, organizing and operating refugee camps, and occasionally having to fight the more radical factions that seek to hurt their staff and the civilians they protect.

@VastGM. You're not wrong, it might be a good idea. I'll definitely consider it in the future. But if I did so, that would involve scrapping the rework I've been working on for a while and starting fresh a second time, so if I do decide to do that it might be a while. Regardless, I still think you have a point, and in the future I may rework it once again or release a separate "expanded version". At the moment, my knowledge of mod making is limited to faction creation through the orbat creator. But if i learn how to do stuff like retextures and find time for it I will definitely upgrade the mod with it

Have you thought about playing around with W28 or W35 and other re-textures for them for your factions? I do understand that you may want to stay vanilla but imo it's very limited to having some accurate gear rather then having generic vanilla gear and uniforms.

@darinstockton to elaborate a little bit, this mod's philosophy is intended to be one with minimal requirements, a lightweight second civil war mod. Unfortunately, because of this, the limited amount of camoflauge and uniforms that come with Arma 3 and the Aegis/Altas expansion mod, and the fact that only some uniforms support patches, it makes it challenging to add modern camos like OCP without adding several new requirements. I have seen this done on the other second civil war mod that I know of, the son's we've lost, which, while a fantastic mod which is better than mine in some ways, also has a particularly long requirement list. I wanted to give people the choice between a more thorough, modern mod like Son's We've Lost, and my mod, which is more lightweight, compact, and based upon Arma 3's vanilla gear and some small expansions. Ultimately, however, I believe its a matter of preference, and you're free to choose whichever mod you think suits your needs better.

@darinstockton. Honestly, if it was a complaint, it would be completely valid. Here's the thing, when I first started making this mod, I attempted to do so using only Arma 3 vanilla and Arma 3 Aegis, the issue was, there was a significant lack of usable uniforms which supported the flag patches that I used to make the factions recognizable. This is why I implemented the Expeditionary Forces DLC requirement. It came with a set of uniforms that both supported patches and looked generic enough to be applied to several factions. However, now I have realized that this was a mistake, and have decided to rework the entire mod without EF and using Arma 3 Aegis and Atlas only instead, as they come with plenty of usable uniforms, something I didn't realize when I first made the mod. In the upcoming rework, I intend to increase the variety of uniforms significanlty using the new assets from Atlas at my disposal.

Not a complaint just a question why do so many of your factions use marpat over OCP?

Here’s an update on the rework. TFR factions are being rebuilt to better match the early 2020s feel of its setting. While they still use Arma 3 vanilla, Aegis, and Atlas assets, there’s enough variety to create a more grounded, modern look. All TFR factions will be labeled with “(TFR)” in the editor to distinguish them from standalone Second Civil War factions. I’ve also toned down some of the more outlandish features from release, such as rifles that looked too futuristic or foreign for an American conflict. So far, about four factions have been overhauled. I can’t give an exact release date, but early October is a good estimate. Overall, this should be a notable improvement over the original release, especially in visual profile and gear loadouts, which were primitive since this was my first faction mod. If you have suggestions, now is the best time—since everything’s being rebuilt, I can implement community ideas.

@Erl1125 I'm not sure yet, I'll have to see. I'm reworking it and rebuilding it from the ground up at the moment.

Can this be played as an antistasi?
