im using a combination of the waterjets vertical trim and fin rudders (normal fins increase drag and can cause boats to lift out of the water in wind). the waterjets stabilize the roll and pitch using tilt sensors, and the fin rudders force the boat down in waves

Thanks qwop after doing some research I finally managed to figure it out myself but good to have confirmed what I'd guessed. I've been rebuilding your boat myself from scratch minus some of the xml edited parts and it's been really fun.

If you have the time to explain I'd love to know how you're stabilizing the boat, I can see you are from the description and I can't quite figure it out. Perhaps it has something to do with the robotic pivots? I've seen some guides using tilt sensors but it appears the tilt sensors on this vessel aren't hooked up to anything?

Yours stays so flat in the water which is great where as mine rolls a lot and can tip at super high speed.

The front railing is made from xml edited pipes. In stormworks, vehicles are saved as xml files. If you go to %appdata% > stormworks > data > vehicles, there will be a list of xml files. Open one, and youll see how a vehicle is encoded in the xml file, block by block. What you can do is make a new vehicle with just a 1x1 block and a pipe, for example (or any other block), and save it. Then, head to your vehicles folder and open the newly created xml file. There should be something like trans_straight (xml name for a straight pipe) something something r = "values". You can change these values to change the shape of the block (dont forget to save the xml file). The hitbox will not change. I like to use https://struner11.com/stormworks/xml/ and replace the r values in the xml file with the ones from struner. Hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have any questions

Hi, I'm completely new to the game and have been building my own boat based off this design, can you explain how the front railing has been done because as far as I can tell there are custom pieces involved?
qwop  [author] 7 Oct @ 12:07am
dont worry about that, those are things that dont need to be connected

im new to this game so im sorry if im missing something obvious, when i load this in career mode i get a bunch of things with an error warning saying they arent connected

well, its a very small boat. I did what I could and in my opinion performs very well in waves it was designed for
stacilgeorge 19 Sep @ 6:13am
it is bad in waves and when you let it float it is very wigely
