Operation Why Not? is a campaign of six connected singleplayer missions from multiple perspectives depicting the latest offensive, which will surely change the course of the war this time.

All missions feature scaling adjusted to difficulty, randomization, and easter eggs.

Please give any feedback you have on the missions! All I can tell from my perspective and testing is that the scripts function. What you like, dislike, or think could be improved, please share your thoughts. I would also appreciate any cool ideas you have for new scenarios!

My design philosophy for these has centered around three ideas; 1: to create fun missions, 2: to give the player many options on how they want to approach things, and 3: the mission notices and reacts dynamically to the choices the player makes and how they perform. Additionally, I want to take a creative approach to the missions; there are already 90000 super-similar "unit testing" and "wave defense" missions on the workshop. I can't guarantee you will like my missions, but I am proud that they will provide you with at least a unique experience, by leveraging the full power of the editor, scripter, and logic systems.

Each difficulty is independently balanced, not just by dumb number-changing like Skyrim, but by also changing the composition of friendly and enemy forces, as well as adjusting the aggression and "intelligence" of the AI. Side objectives make sense and give meaningful benefits, while you can also go without them to focus main objectives, there's a lot of tradeoffs so it's all up to your playstyle. I also have turned off all upkeep costs in every mission; they're just punishing the player for playing the game and frustrating to me. There are times when you can get a leg up

I do have plans to add in voice acting to all of the missions in the future, along with custom sound effects and music, but my main priority is to flesh out the gameplay and scripting to be robust, and since I refuse to use AI slop, it's going to be voice-acted by community members similar to projects like Deus Ex's The Nameless Mod. As part of this community-focused approach, feel free to crack open any of the scenario data and check it out!
