Description
Description:
The MiG-31M is a replica of the legendary Soviet Air Defense interceptor fighter designed by the Mikoyan and Gurevich MiG-31 design bureaus.
The replica as a whole quite fully recreates the functionality available to the original MiG-31, with the exception of the impossible or hardly applicable, such as the chassis or electronic warfare systems.
Otherwise, the functionality is similar, starting with a radar that supports passive and active scanning modes, as well as targeting the rest of the squadron's aircraft to one target-seeing aircraft.
The radar used on the replica guarantees detection at a distance of 600-2500 meters with the ability to detect and capture targets at a distance of up to 7 km.
The interceptor is armed with 4 R-33 missiles and 2 R-60M missiles with a possible increase in the R-60M ammunition set to 6 units. There is also a GSh-23-6 air gun.
The interceptor crew consists of the same two people, the navigator-radar operator and the pilot.
The replica's basic armament generally matches the actual main battle load. However, unlike the original, the replica R-33s are equipped with nuclear warheads, and the R-60M is equipped with high - explosive ones, not rod ones.
Also, for the sake of increasing the power of ammunition, in fact, 8 air guns are installed on the replica, and not 1.

Historical background:
The MiG-31 (according to the NATO classification — English Foxhound) is a Soviet two-seat supersonic high-altitude all-weather long-range fighter-interceptor. Developed at OKB-155 (now JSC RSC MiG) on the basis of the MiG-25 in the 1970s. The first Soviet combat aircraft of the fourth generation.

The MiG-31 is designed to intercept and destroy air targets at extremely low, medium and high altitudes, day and night, in simple and difficult weather conditions, when the enemy uses active and passive radar interference, as well as false thermal targets. A group of four MiG-31 aircraft is capable of controlling the airspace along the front up to 1,100 km.
Initially, the fighter was designed to intercept aircraft cruise missiles.
MiG-31 regiments for several years had the status of special forces (SpN) in the air defense.

Control:
The pilot is responsible for controlling the interceptor fighter and capturing targets, and the navigator is responsible for controlling the radar and launching missiles (also possible from the pilot). The navigator can select a target on the radar, reset the guidance from it, switch the radar operation mode, and so on. The pilot's control suite is mostly limited to basic radar functionality and basic piloting functionality.
Landing on the plane takes place through a hatch (the only way to make a sealed cabin). To land on the pilot's seat, you need to go close to the navigator's seat and look at the pilot's seat. When leaving the aircraft, the pilot and navigator immediately find themselves outside the cockpit, thus ejecting.
