Popis

A heroic Welsh rebel leader. From modest origins as a lawyer, Owain went on to lead a medieval revolt against English rule.

His deeds garnered him admiration as a just and noble King, worthy of the bards, which inspired his epithet: Y Mab Darogan, the Child of Destiny.

The story of his attempt at rebellion has been interwoven with the tales of Arthur's messianic return and with Welsh national identity.

FEATURES
  • New Leader: Adds a new leader with a fun ability that interacts with the Ages system. Incredibly strong defensive capabilities, and flavourful continuation of unique units into future eras.
  • New Units: Adds a new unit class exclusive to Owain: Guerilla units! These are essentially short-range pre-modern Air units, representing unpredictable attacks and ambushes from the woods and hills.
    • Important: Scouts and Army Commanders act as "anti-air" units against Guerillas! Enemy reconnaissance can foil guerilla operations!
    • Important: The Guerilla class of units are unlocked via a unique Civic Tree available to Owain after researching Chiefdom in Antiquity or Piety in Exploration. These give access to the Marchogion Civic that unlocks the Caer, a base of operations for your guerilla activities.
  • Keep your Unique Units: Knights of old return to fight for the Once and Future King! Owain's ability also lets him keep training UUs from the previous era, with upgrades to keep them relevant. So even in the Exploration Age, if you played as Rome, you can train Legions and pitch them against Musketmen. Classic Civ fun!
  • Narrative Storyline: A full complement of narrative events, including a leader story, inspired by medieval Welsh literature and the history of the Glyndwr revolt. Guide your nation from its rebellious origins towards building its own government, and shaping its culture.
  • 3D Character: An animated 3D model representing Owain. [Currently a placeholder until better tools for modifying models and adding animations etc become available]
  • Mementos: Three mementos themed after Owain, including the Mabinogion, Dragon Banner, and the Glyndwr Seal.
    • Important: Mementos are fiddly at the moment without full mod support from Firaxis. To unlock the mementos, start a game as Owain, then return to the main menu to start a new game, and the mementos should be available! Let me know any issues you encounter with this, as that'll help us understand what works and why, and maybe find better implementations.

MEMENTO EFFECTS
  • Mabinogion: +1 Culture per age from each active Endeavour you started or supported.
  • Dragon Banner: +1 Influence for every Cavalry Unit.
  • Glyndwr Seal: Costs other players 50% less Influence to Support your Diplomatic Actions.

FEEDBACK AREAS
  • Balance: Guerilla units are very strong defensively, but not very mobile at all. The people defend their homeland, but are not enthusiastic to go and invade foreign lands. Balancing this is tricky, as the payoffs of defence are usually the ability to counter-attack: but guerillas can't do this, so there is a tradeoff in investing too heavily into guerillas. Their main utility is to keep them stockpiled if you don't plan on going to war with other players, purely to hold off potential invaders.
  • Leader Colour: Owain's colour scheme is white and yellow. These have a famously poor contrast, so icons might not be readable. Everyone's eyesight and computer screens are different, so if anyone has problems with the current colours let me know, and I can look at using darker yellows or using another colour scheme altogether.
Any other issues you encounter please let me know asap and I can include it in a future update!

you need izica's leader model changer mod.
once you enable both mods, the leader models will start rendering after you re-start the game.

The model for glyndwr isnt loading, is that a hardware issue on my end or do i need specific settings to render the character model

thank you for trying out the mod! let me know if there's anything else i can help with or if u encounter any issues.
i'll look at clarifying the caer and the beardless warriors more in the tooltips so that future players don't get confused, too!

very good, the base is the caer, thank you, God bless you and your great work

yes - like how in the modern age when you make an aircraft, it has to be based at your air base, but can carry out attacks like a ranged unit from that base.
guerilla units work the same way. they're not an organised professional army that can be sent marching around the country and into foreign lands. instead, these are your local people, usually working the land, but prepared to defend their homes against invaders if they come too close.
so they're designed to have a base (the caer), and carry out attacks in a short range around that base.

Thank you for your quick answer, but is normal the unit born outside city and stay still, not move can be make?

hi, doc furtado! it's essentially a short-ranged air unit in the antiquity age, representing guerilla warriors who defended wales from the romans and the anglo-normans.
they're almost exclusively defensive in use, but if enemy units come near your city, they can deal huge damage and hold them off incredibly efficiently.
they also count as unique units, and therefore generate culture using owain's ability!
(plus, they can be really handy to counter a forward settle, by placing your caer near the enemy's borders)

I dont understand about the unit, i made it, but dont work in game, stand still and in a commander group
