ABOUT:
Lynch’s NPCs Essentials is an AI overhaul and quality-of-life addon that enhances the behavior of most default Half-Life 2 NPCs. Its main objective is to address the unintelligent and rigid nature of the original AI by making NPC-vs-Player and NPC-vs-NPC battles more dynamic, reactive, and meaningful.

The addon leverages the map’s NavMesh system to provide advanced logic for cover-seeking, flanking, fallback positions, repositioning, and more. Despite its extensive feature set, Lynch’s NPCs Essentials is designed with performance in mind and includes a wide range of configurable options for fine-tuning behavior to your liking.

    • The regroup point is dynamically selected via NavMesh.
  • Actively attempt to avoid player aim.

UNIQUE FEATURES > METROPOLICE:
  • Support for the ARREST spawnflag, unlocking scripted behavior:
    • Detects enemy > signals nearby units > takes firing position > reports to Overwatch > receives kill order > engages target.
  • Option to disable stunstick spawning.
UNIQUE FEATURES > CITIZENS & REBELS:
  • Persistent regrouping behavior with nearby players. (FREEMAN LEADS THE WAY!)
  • More frequent attempts to move out of the player’s way.
  • Non-medic rebels have a chance to spawn as medics.
  • Experimental faction alliance system:
    • Option to ally Combine and Rebel factions.
    • Only affects default HL2 combat NPCs.

  • Zombies:
    • More aggressive and reactive behavior.
    • Increased movement speed.
    • Zombines can now pull grenades when near enemy NPCs.
    • Unlocks an unused secondary attack for Fast Zombies.
  • Striders:
    • Can toggle between normal and aggressive behavior modes.
    • Aggressive mode allows faster and more accurate shooting.
    • Striders can now use their cannon weapon during combat.
  • Hunters:
    • Enhanced group attack coordination.
    • Faster, more frequent attacks.
  • Helicopters:
    • Option to enable deadly shooting mode against players.
  • Vortigaunts:
    • Can recharge player armor from 0 to 15.
    • Gain access to a secondary area-of-effect (AOE) Dispel attack, launching nearby enemies into the air, similar to Vortigaunts from Black Mesa.

I've noticed that some options from metrocops, rebels and combine soldiers were merged together and moved to global settings. No hate, but I kind of feel like this change kind of removed some of the customization that was available before, being able to make one group behave one way and the other the other way. Also, I've noticed that some options like ,,Disable spawning with stunstick" has been removed too.

The Glass sounds are the Armor System that the Rebels are using, and it might appear once they're armor breaks, you can disable it through the Addon Settings if you dont want it to appear anymore.

great mod! but I wonder if this works with NEAD in map sweepers? the focus of that mod is the npc hearing tho, not sure if it'll works

help would be helpfull
for some reason it makes glass noises when i kill an npc with gun- (i use sound mod but eaither this mod does this or hla models mod)

Actually due to fair use copyright law so long as whomever does not try to take credit for or profit from "thing" they may do with it what they like.
