Taiqing

Hailing from the indie visual novel game Threefold Recital, Taiqing, the young Daoist priest (and best boi) from the city of Bluescales, joins Smack Studio!

With his original game having so many muscular, battle-hardened men who would be much more suited for a fighting game, who knows how this little guy of all people managed to be chosen?? Taiqing is a fantastic fighter in his own right, however, and brings quite a few unique and creative skills with him to battle, such as his alchemy and crafting skills, as well as his special power to manipulate time! He can also switch between two different forms, Yin and Yang, to shake up his moveset!

NEUTRAL SPECIAL: Yin and Yang
Taiqing can switch between his Yin and Yang forms with the push of a button. In his Yin form, he can move faster, but is weaker and lighter. On the other hand, in his Yang form, he is slower and heavier, but his attacks are more powerful! You can stick to just one form that fits your playstyle better, or you can strategically switch between them to take advantage of any situation!

SIDE SPECIAL: Echo Pearl
Taiqing will toss a heavy, bouncy projectile known as an Echo Pearl straight forward. In Yin form, this is a dormant green pearl. In Yang form, on the other hand, this is a red pearl that will explode on impact! Be careful, as Taiqing himself can be caught in the blast if it's not thrown in time!

UP SPECIAL: Dimensional Rift Hop
This acts as a teleport move, in which Taiqing will travel quickly through a dimensional rift to appear somewhere else on the battlefield. The Yin version of this attack is faster, while the Yang version has better control and will cover more distance.

DOWN SPECIAL: Transmutation Blade
Taiqing briefly stops what he is doing to whip out a kiln and craft either a short sword (Yin form) or a greatsword (Yang form) to use in battle. He can cancel out of this process by dodging at any time. Use your new weapon wisely, however, as it will break after a certain number of hits!

ULTRA: Eightfold Time
For his Ultra, Taiqing calls upon his time manipulation powers to move exponentially faster than his opponents!

In Yin form, Taiqing will rocket straight forward at lightning speed to deal devastating damage to any opponent unlucky enough to be standing right in front of him. Be careful, however, as this could launch Taiqing off stage!

In Yang form, instead of speeding himself up, Taiqing will freeze everyone around him in time, dealing tremendous hitstun and allowing him to follow up with whatever attack he can come up with, or even emote for laughs in front of his frozen opponents!
