[B42] Home Inventory

In 1 collection by maraganina
02/06/2025 Campaign Mods
105 items
Description
Looted the 14th pipe wrench because you forgot you already had 13? Didn't take that sledgehammer because you already had one but now you realized that was on your previous character? This mod allows you to designate zones in your home(s) or base(s). A list of all items in those zones will be displayed in the new Home Inventory tab, available in the Character Info panel (Health screen).

Safe to add/remove mid campaign; doesn't overwrite any game files.

Update 1.4: Double-click an item in the list to auto walk to that zone. Zones and their names now drawn on the map when the manager panel is open.

Description
The Home Inventory mod allows the player to create and manage custom zones: "home" zones; similar to how the Animal system works in B42. The items inside home zones are fetched and saved, and can be seen as a list in a new tab called "Home Inventory" located in the Character Info panel (the heart icon). Home zones can cover multiple bases, and can also cover different areas of each base. It's up to you to decide how you will organize your bases and the items inside them.

The list of items is only fetched when you add or remove zones, or when you click the "Home Inventory" tab, so the mod has virtually no effect on performance.

If you are too far from a zone, their tiles will not be loaded, and the game will think your items don't exist. To prevent this, the mod saves the items of each zone to a cache, so you can keep checking your home inventory while you are away.

Examples
*New* (v1.4)
Double-click on an item entry in the list to walk to that zone automatically:

Zones and their names are drawn on the map when the zone manager is open:

Check items in your base as a list even while away:

Designate zones which can be used to further organize your base:

Incompatibilities
No hard incompatibilities yet, as far as I know. Please report any as a discussion here.

The UI might have issues with other mods that overwrite the character info window (the one that shows your info, health, protection, temperature and, of course, your home inventory). This can probably be fixed by changing the load order of this mod.

Really cool and helpful mod! Unfortunately, it can also be used as a way to check whether a specific area (not necessarily your home) has a loot that you need without putting yourself in danger.

Suggestion for food:
-Sometimes we store fresh food different fridges and freezers but we have to check all of them to see wich is close to be "rotten" to use them before it happens. If we had a filter to order the list by "time to rotten" could be a really usefull tool to be more efficent with the uses of fresh food.
Thx for the mod anyway, gj

@Quill Your comment just sent me howling bro, like that was way fuckin funnier than it ever should've been lmfao!!! I mean it's possible I'm abit "deep-fried" as of like 2 seconds ago if you catch my meaning. Plus the fact it's 2am for me rn may play a part, however, It's more likely I'm just able to relate to this on an almost non-exaggerated level. Like I wish I was kidding, but no... I legit suffer from a uniquely severe and aggressive form of ADHD that would make even Deadpool seem like a boring normie by comparison... Also not a joke... You can still laugh tho! It's just as funny regardless lmao
