This mod is a vanilla-friendly expansion of the lactation feature from Biotech.


Ability - Self-milking

Toggle whether this colonist will milk themselves to extract breast milk after reaching 80% milk fullness.

Pawns that are lactating can now milk themselves to extract a small amount of breast milk. You can choose whether specific pawns will milk themselves or not with the new toggle lactating pawns have.
Lactating pawns will look for an appropriate place to do so before milking themselves and will then haul the extracted milk to storage.
Lactating prisoners can be milked by wardens. Doing so however may upset the prisoner unless they are a psychopath or a masochist.

The amount of milk extracted, nutrition wise, is proportional with base Biotech balance. It also scales with body size.

Item - Breast milk

Sweet, nutritious milk from a human.

Breast milk, milked from lactating colonists, can be used by mothers and wet nurses to store nutrition. This milk can be then used as, well, milk.

Drug - Broodmother

A synthetic drug developed for wet nurses. Broodmother stimulates milk glands and causes the taker to lactate. If taken regularly, it will prevent lactation from stopping.

Made with one neutroamine and twelve raw berries, this drug can be used to stimulate lactation on a colonist. Unlike penoxycyline, it is considered a hard drug and can cause addictions.

It does not work on men by default but this can be changed in the mod's settings.

Gene - Wet nurse

Carriers of this gene will always lactate. If lactation stops due to health conditions (like malnutrition) it will resume once those conditions are resolved.

This is a simple gene that stimulates lactation. It does not work on men by default but this can be changed in the mod's settings.

Gene - Milky
Carriers of this gene will yield twice as much milk when milked.

This one is pretty self-explanatory, I think.

Alongside full integration with Biotech, the Lactation Expansion also has built-in integrations with some other mods.
