Type-81 Interceptor

With the continuation of the massive modernization program by the International Union Fleet, the Southern Luna Design Bureau proposed a new type of ship that is small, only requires a short time to construct, but also has a capable firepower in it's class. This new class of ships are dubbed as the "Interceptor", with the first model introduced are the Type-81.

Type-81 is a class of ships that are meant to be deployed mainly as a combat patrol ship. However, it also has the capability to engage in a second-line defense on an all-out conflict. The International Union has already projects to operate up to 114 units of such ships, with additional 82 ships for the second batch.


Type-81 has the length of 61.4m, 11.8m hull diameters and 31.8m of total diameters. The ships is armed with 76mm primary guns, 35mm PDC systems, and QIM-167E quick interdiction missiles.

The design philosophy of the Type-81, is meant to be a combat patrol ship, capable for second-line engagement and capital escort mission. Due to it's versatilities, the Type-81 is now one of the largest number of ships operated by the International Union Fleet, protecting IU's interest and people across the system.
