Commando Mode

Description
Slight tweaks to make the game harder.

List of changes:

Player max health down to 20 from 50 (I tried 10 but couldn't get through the tutorial because you'd defrib after glass then bleedout without defib when you next have to defrib)
Player max armor down to 3 from 10
Walkie Talkies have 1 battery charge
Increased FOV slightly for SwordFish and Pirate thugs (questionable if I did it correctly)
SwordFish is no longer hackable
SwordFish ram speed increased
SwordFish health doubled
SwordFish damage increased
Changed damage values:
Hardfall and Megafall increased
Fire increased
Glass wound increased
OutsideFTL increased (I think engine fire at back of ship. Unconfirmed)
Changed pirate visibility (I think they spot you more often. I don't know. Unconfirmed)
Changed pirate suspicion rate (They should be more suspicious faster. Unconfirmed)

There may be other changes I've forgotten. I'm mainly messing around.

I completed the game from start to finish (not getting every objective, just trying to reach the end) with the mod, so it's at least usable. Took me 4 hours 20 minutes. Based.

It's difficult to tell which bugs are from my mod, the game, or the fact I'm on Linux using proton. But a couple of times I couldn't start the game, or the game was fully black in the levels, or I'd glitch into the walls. So I had to delete the saves and begin again. Saves located 'C:/users/(usernamehere)/AppData/Roaming/skindeep'
Or on linux: '.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/301280/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/skindeep'

Random commands you should put in the console:
cm_drawColor: Allows setting the color used for drawing collision models.
cm_drawFilled: Draws collision models as filled polygons.
g_showCollisionModels: Can be used to show collision models in the game world.
g_showCollisionWorld: Displays the overall collision world

Thank you! I haven't been able to find your files in my installation for some reason, in the file explorer or in the game.

I think if you have the game installed, and the workshop item subscribed to, then it will download to the folder: <SteamLibrary>\steamapps\workshop\content\301280\3481168006\ and you can look inside there for what files are being used. Then you can compare them to the files in the game.

Don't have the game installed right now. I think from my notes the files were in 3 folders def/ maps/ and script/ the specific files were damage.def gameplay.def monster_spearbot.def player.def vig_tutorial.cm monster.script monster_bossfloater.script monster_gunner.script monster_thug.script and maybe a few I've forgotten the names of or make note of

Nice mod! I'm on proton too and didn't experience any of those issues while playing the base game. hopefully that helps you narrow down your troubleshooting ;)

Also seems saving the game is broken so if you use the mod you might have to copy files around to fix the ability to save

Seems like something to do with it being a workshop mod
I think?
At least if I copy the folder "3481168006" from this location:
steam/steamapps/workshop/content/301280
to this location:
steam/steamapps/common/Skin Deep/
then when I choose what mod is activated and pick the local version of CommandoMode saving suddenly works. As if the game breaks the ability to save when the mod is loaded from the workshop.
Might be that the game isn't fully setup for mods yet.

Hmm, saves no longer working. Weird.
I definitely save and load during my test run of the mod.
