Description
Continuing the conversion of CSGO to CS2 submissions, this is another set from the Yakuza Dragon collection. I felt the FAMAS was missing some colourschemes and that these would be perfect.

Developments
I wanted to have the illustration linework unchanging while the background transitioned in hue as it wears. In order to do this I assigned the linework to be non-metal and the background to be metal, however the way skins are programmed causes low resolution DXT compression artifacts to appear in the transition between black and white in the metallic map in the Gunsmith application, I documented this in a post on reddit

I could have submitted it as is but then it would be knowingly submitting something with technical/quality issues, so I opted to change the linework to be all metal over the main gun area. To make it more interesting I experimented with colour gradients in both the linework and base, and added a pearlescence effect on top and bottom surfaces. A new addition to the design is a japanese repeating semicircle pattern in the roughness map. I did this as I felt the design was too simple.

Alternative colourschemes
I made two additional options.
The purple one was the master version I worked on.

It subtly reduces in saturation as it wears.

A copper variant which transitions from copper to brown… to an oxidised green. This one is unique in that the float range is the max.

I’ve tested the albedo using mat_fullbright 10 and there are no flashing warning colours, which surprised me, especially on the purple iteration which appears very saturated once the workbench colours are applied on top.

Let me know what you think below.
