[HS]-Coal to Oxspring Sidings (Robinson O4)

In 1 collection by Highball Simulation
Woodhead (1950s) Scenarios
20 items
Description
Whilst electric traction was a key part of freight operation on the Woodhead route, a surprising amount of freight continued to be moved by steam traction. This sort of work tended to be allocated to either 8Fs or O4s, and in this scenario a pair of O4 2-8-0s will be working a loaded coal train from Mottram Yard to Oxspring Sidings near Penistone. As the scenario begins, you have coupled onto your train and are awaiting permission to depart. Once you have the road, you will begin the long, difficult climb up to Woodhead Tunnel. Maximum permitted speed for this service is 35 miles per hour. Duration: 45 minutes.

DLC Requirements:
Woodhead Route (1950s)
Western Lines of Scotland
Class 303 (standing in for Class 506 units)
Class 77 Locomotive Pack
Robinson O4

@chris The O4 was an engine I haven't used all that much recently, so I was pleasantly surprised with how much power they can put down. They fit on Woodhead very nicely, and can fit well on Weardale as well. The preserved example should be returning to steam soon, which is something I very much look forward to.

Yeah - back in the NE with steam - excellent. Enjoyed the drag up the hill thank you HS. Usual high standard, realistic speeds, realistic AI. The 04s seem to have plenty of power. Looking forward to this series. Kind Regards. Chris

@pjohnandlyns No problem. Given how buggy some Woodhead scenarios are that's good to hear!
