About modpack
Russian version of this guide https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3474113087
Collection on Steam (read to the end, you don't need to subscribe to it yet) https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3480583779
Like many other games that make heavy use of mods, XCOM 2 has several flagship global reworks that are mutually exclusive with each other. This build is based on the global mod Long War of the Chosen aka LWOTC
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2683996590
Which is installed on top of DLC War of the Chosen

LWOTC also contains content and/or functionality from the mods Long War 2, Strategy Overhaul: Covert Infiltration, [WOTC] Prototype Armoury, Yellow Alert and more than 40 more mods. More details here[github.com]

We have spent many months searching and configuring mods to create a collection with the maximum amount of content.
Reviewed over 1200 mods to leave the best and most compatible ones.

INSTALLING the modpack (the most important thing!!!)
Warning.
You may find this too complicated. But the instructions are detailed enough and do not require specific skills. Most games with modpacks of 100 mods and more require some customization. If comprehensive modpacks are supplied by an established team, archive or application, then all the customization has been done for you. And even then, not always. Downloading mod collections from Steam and trying to play without any customization can end differently. The best you can get is not seeing a large chunk of content. The worst result is illogical or even broken gameplay. I have encountered this myself more than once. So, let's go!

  1. Unsubscribe from all mods. Workshop - View - Your subscriptions (you can save them in a separate collection beforehand, but you still need to unsubscribe in the end)

  2. Go to the folder where you download mods from Steam, for me it is c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\ - check that there is nothing left inside, if there is, delete it.

  3. Clearing old configs ..\Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config\ Delete or rename this folder. Only this folder. DO NOT touch the config folder in the game's install directory.

  4. Launch XCOM2 War of the Chosen without mods. The game will use the default config files to recreate the config folder, effectively resetting the game's settings to default.

  5. Adjust game settings (e.g. graphics settings). Make sure that v-sync and framerate smoothing are disabled. This is important!

  6. Exit the game. This will prevent your settings from being reset every time you launch it after you start playing with mods.

  7. Subscribe to the minimum package - https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/workshop/filedetails/?id=2683996590 LWOTC + all its dependencies (8 mods)

  8. Wait for everything to download. In the folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\ there will be 9 folders, Steam will say that the download is complete, about 2.5-3 GB

  9. Download the latest version of Alternative Mod Launcher (AML) [github.com]. There is also detailed instructions[github.com] on installing and configuring AML.

  10. Extract all files from the ZIP archive to a location of your choice. The only limitation is that AML requires a write access pointer. The safest option is to create a source on your desktop. Avoid system folders such as c:\Program Files\or c:\Windows. There is no installer. You can simply run the XCOM2 Launcher application (XCOM2 Launcher.exe). If you cannot find the application file (.exe), you probably downloaded the wrong archive (containing only the source code).

  11. When starting AML, select XCOM WOTC - Continue. At the end, we see this window:

  12. We checked all 9 boxes. Press "Run War of the Chosen"

  13. If you see the "Long War (LWOTC)" button in the main menu, great! Close the game.

  14. Now we go and subscribe to all the mods in the collection https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3480583779 using the Subscribe to all - Add button. https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3480074253

  15. While Steam is downloading, prepare a folder for a local mod. The original instructions here, but I will describe them in simple terms below.

  16. Create a folder "mods" in the following directory ..\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame

  17. Add the above path to AML > Settings > Mod Directories. Make sure it is below the workshop directory.
  18. Close AML

  19. Download the folder with fixes[drive.google.com] (later I will start to arrange them as separate mods, but for now this is it).

  20. Download the folder with cheats[drive.google.com] (optional, -500% balance).

  21. Copy the downloaded folders to \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\mods\, so you will get something like: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\mods\RutvenUpgradeRedux\ etc.

  22. Wait until Steam downloads everything. (for me it was about 56 GB)

  23. Download folder[drive.google.com], put its contents with replacement of all files in the folder ...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\ . Unfortunately, these files need to be replaced via a local mod, like the previous folders, they do not work. These are small but important fixes.

  24. Delete all files from the folder EXCEPT those in the picture. ...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\2245270253\Content. You need to delete 23 files out of 34. Only those in the picture will remain.

  25. Run AML. All mods from the collection will appear there, + lines with my fixes. Select all mods - Enable (check all boxes). My fixes can be checked by entering Rutven in the search. As a result, you will have all 800+ mods selected

  26. When all mods are selected, click "Run War of the Chosen" in AML - now the game is always launched through this button. It can launch for several minutes.

  27. After launch, it will complain about [WOTC] Iridar's SPARK Arsenal 3.2 - disable the message

  28. Also, "Tactical UI Kill Counter" will ask you to restart the game. Do this.

  29. Done!

The modpack is installed, but you still need to configure it:

  • Mod Config Menu settings
  • Second Wave settings
Mandatory Mod Config Menu (MCM) settings
  • [Vanilla/WotC] Black Market Soldier Stats.
When used in combination with [WOTC] Filtered Menus, they overlap. Change the configurations in the Mod Menu for BMSS:
    - Stat Panel Location X: to 1340
    - Stat Panel Location Y: to 340 (optional)
    - or
    - Stat Panel Location X: to 280
    - Stat Panel Location Y: to 390

  • More Lost from LWW: check boxes (optional)

  • Extended Information: disable Aim Assist in the Extended Information settings.

  • Full Shadow Report: change the interface coordinates
    - Show without \"Hall of Shadows\" built
    - Debug. Enable
    - Terrain X pos offset: -1530
    - Enemy X pos offset: -1530

  • Living Space: Show crew count on the geoscape - UNCHECK
Game settings
Before starting a New Game
Open Settings
All cosmetic scales, except for official DLCs, turn to 0

After starting a new game
In Strategy (Avenger screen), not in Tactics (in battle), go to Change settings - Abilities and check "Use basic ability interface in battle"

Additional Options (Second Wave Options)
When launching a new campaign, check for the necessary settings in the "Additional Parameters" section (colloquially called the second wave parameters).
This is important, because you cannot change them later. The options are important and their absence led to the desire (not the requirement) for a complete restart of the company.
  1. In the Main Menu, select the start of a new game - the "Long War (LWOTC)" button
  2. Difficulty (I recommend Veteran, I strongly do not recommend Legend - some mods do not work well with this level)
  3. Click the "Additional parameters" button

My list of ADDITIONAL checkboxes that I put, in addition to those that are already there:
  • Grim Horizon: The effects of all Dark Events are permanent.
  • Lengthy Scheme: Double the length of the Avatar Project.
  • Macrophagial Transgenesis: soldiers can be Gene Modded even while wounded.
  • Biosynthesis: Augmented limbs can be Gene Modded.
  • Embraced Endings: Enable special Trait mechanics.
  • Impermanent Injury: Wound and Requiem Traits can be removed in the Infirmary.
  • Strategic Dominance: Enables Resistance Orders for XCOM.
  • Allows XCOM soldiers to purchase multiple class abilities of the same rank with AP.

[WOTC] Quick Soldier Info
Mod for an amateur. For the most part, it duplicates [WOTC] Select Soldier Icons Redux (panel on the left). But I like the action counter in the form of numbers and photos.
Recommended settings (available only in Tactics, i.e. in battle):
  • reduce icon size
  • check all boxes on the General tab

if you don't like it, you can simply disable it in Alternative Mod Luncher
[WOTC] Disable Any Class GTS Redux
There are too many classes.
I recommend choosing those that are best disabled through the settings Mod Config Menu - Disable Any Class
Check the boxes next to the classes that you do not want to be displayed\trained\hired.
After the first tests, I disabled these (sorted in the order they go in MCM):
  • Valkyrie (MercyClassMod)
  • Hunter (ShadowOps_Hunter_LWOTC)
  • Juggernaut (ShadowOps_Juggernaut_LWOTC)
  • Recon (ShadowOps_Recon_LWOTC)
  • Scrapper (ShadowOps_Scrapper_LWOTC)
  • Heavy (LWS_Heavy)
  • Agent (LWS_Agent)
  • Crasher (LWS_Crasher)
  • Stormrider (LWS_Stormrider)
  • Jane Kelly (WOTC_APA_DirectorKelly)
  • Keeper (LWS_Keeper)
  • Stormtrooper (Stormtrooper)
  • Dark Ranger (LightRanger)
  • Dark Sharpshooter (LightSharpshooter)
  • Dark Grenadier (LightGrenadier)
  • Dark Psi Agent (LightPsiOperative)
  • Sharpshooter (LWS_Sharpshooter)
  • Ranger (LWS_Ranger)
  • Gunner (LWS_Gunner)
  • Grenadier (LWS_Grenadier)
  • Hitman (Hitman)
  • Marksman (Marksman)
  • Commando (PR_Commando)
  • Geneva (PR_Geneva)
  • Titan (PR_Titan)
  • Assault Infantry (LWOTC_APA_Assault)
  • Field Medic (LWOTC_APA_Medic)
  • Marine (LWOTC_APA_Marine)
  • Sapper (LWOTC_APA_Sapper)
  • Heretic (PR_Heretic)
  • Electrician (PR_Electrician)
  • Valkiriarangerclass (Valkiriarangerclass)
  • Dragoon (ShadowOps_Dragoon_Redux)
  • Marine (LWS_MarineLWTOC)
  • Scavenger (ARFMScavenger_LWOTC)

@xxPYROxxJONESxx
ok, I'm glad it worked out for you
xxPYROxxJONESxx 8 Jun @ 5:33am
@rutven i realised the pack comes with a a character pool which seems to have 'fixed' my problem. would love to have english version of it, or version that makes more use of the installed cosmetics.

ill try and flesh the characters out with the included mods - maybe one day i can contribute the pack back.

1. The cheat folder immediately applies cheats. Strictly for an amateur. Greatly simplifies the game.
2. Yes, one of the mods skips the starting mission. It seems to be buggy with a number of mods. And experienced players are already tired of it.
3. It's unlikely that you'll be able to do anything with cosmetics. You can only manually fix it in the character settings
xxPYROxxJONESxx 7 Jun @ 4:01am
is it normal for gatecrasher to be skipped?
