[B41/B42] Hephas Stalker PDA

Description

Welcome to my another small mod!

I created this because I couldn’t find a properly working PDA on the Workshop — and because I wanted something meaningful to complement my Stalker Occupation mod.

While the mod is still freshly "cooked," I plan to refine it further and add more complex features over time, especially if it gains some popularity.

So stay tuned, rate it and spread the word to help support future updates!

[ko-fi.com]

The PDA comes packed with several features, including:
  • Fully custom 3D model that can be held or placed in the world.
  • Well known authentic sound effects, from the STALKER series.
  • Custom texture for a unique look.

Current Implemented Features
  • Players start with a PDA (fully configurable via sandbox options).
  • Supports all functions of the vanilla walkie-talkie (requires the PDA to be equipped as the primary item).
  • Map access through the PDA, while regular map access can be disabled completely by the sandbox option of the mod. Do not disable Allow World Map Option in vanilla Sandbox options!
    • Numpad 0 shortcut for quick map access when vanilla map access is disabled and the player has a PDA in their inventory
    • Draw, create symbols, write, and erase freely in all colors directly on the map via the PDA.
  • Mini Map access through the PDA, while regular access can be disabled completely by the sandbox option of the mod. Do not disable Allow Mini Map Option in vanilla Sandbox options!
  • Option to play an iconic track from the STALKER series - which one exactly, you’ll have to find out yourself!
    • Caution: Playing it will attract the undead.
  • Accurate weather forecast for the next day, including average daytime and nighttime temperatures, and warnings for extreme conditions (e.g., heavy rain, storm, blizzard, fog, tropical storm, and more).
  • The PDA emits a soft glow when equipped, simulating the light of a real electronic display.

Where to Find It?
Whispers tell of these high-end military devices turning up around military zones.
The army surplus store owner might have pulled some strings to get a few... or maybe he just got lucky. There are even rumors that some high rank officers at the Police Departments have been seen with one clipped to their belts.

Keep your eyes open, survivor - with a bit of luck, you might just score one of these rare and valuable gadgets.

More complex features are planned for future updates, especially if the mod gains popularity.

We have the awesome 3D model thanks to the master himself and my longtime buddy Nox.

Is it safe to add this in the middle of a playthrough? Thanks

Hey @Spectre,
thanks for the feedback!

The sound is implemented the same way as other in-game sounds and respects the game’s audio settings, so the issue is likely on your end.

Regarding the hotkey: as noted in the description, there’s already a map hotkey =>Numpad 0. The PDA simply calls the vanilla map function, so I’m fairly confident the problem is caused by the Darker Maps mod.

I'm so happy to have found a mod that adds this item, it's awesome! I do have three things to say though.

1) The PDA sound when you open the map or use it for weather? It does not follow the setting for game or master sound. It's VERY loud.
2) It would be awesome that if you have the PDA equiped on your hotbar and you pull it out and press M while using the setting to only allow map with PDA, if the map opens up instead of having to right click and open map.
3) Not sure if the PDA has anything to do with darker maps not working

@NonstickSQYD
Thanks! :spiffo:

What exactly is causing the errors? If you don’t mind, could you head over to the Bugs & Issues thread and describe the problem in a bit more detail, so I can look into fixing it?

easily one of my favorite mods i like having to physically access the map thru the pda not sure how to use the minimap with it tho it was causing errors

@Ex Ossibus Fumus
Currently the battery is required for all radio interactions and it is drained when left on. Everything else is as of now "free". As for the sandbox option to hide the song, I will think about that. :spiffo:

@sprya
Its currently not planned making it craftable but I might take a look at it once I have a bit more time.

Requiring a battery to function and battery drain would be cool. As well as a sandbox option to disable the song, i click it by accident sometimes...

make it craftable!! (and a way to disable spawns)!! thank

@Gradenone
I didn't tested it with split screen and controller but it should work with that I guess?

Feel free to check it out

Is compatible for controller and split screen
