Custom Billboard Fix
By hCerisu ❤
On modern versions of Windows, it is not possible to use custom billboard images due to the location in which the game searches for pictures being removed. This guide specifies a method to resolve this issue.

Introduction
The starting path for the billboard image selector in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is C:\Users\(username)\Documents\My Pictures, which, following a retooling of the user directory structure in Windows Vista, is a directory junction pointing to the new location of the Pictures directory and not a valid directory in of itself. As a result, custom billboards no longer work on modern versions of Windows, but this can be resolved by restoring the old My Pictures folder.

All commands in this guide (marked in bold) must be entered exactly as they appear. I hold no responsibility for any issues or data loss caused by failure to do so.
Method
1. Start Command Prompt by pressing WIN+R and typing 'cmd' (fig. 1)

2. With Command Prompt open, type cd Documents and press ENTER to open the Documents directory.

3. Type rmdir "My Pictures" to remove the directory junction named My Pictures. (fig. 2)

4. Type mkdir "My Pictures" to create an actual directory with the same name. (fig. 2)

5. Move image files you wish to display in-game to C:\Users\(username)\Documents\My Pictures

6. To place billboards in-game, go to the scenery menu, click the billboard icon, and then select 'Custom Image' from the window that appears. (fig. 3)

*To reverse the procedure outlined in the previous steps, (e.g. for compatibility with other applications) enter rmdir "My Pictures" while in your Documents directory again and then type mklink /J "My Pictures" ..\Pictures to reestablish the directory junction.*
