Incinerator

Description
Patch notes
  • Npcs can now incinerate bodies. Characters will look for nearby corpses, take their valuables, and drop them in the incinerator.

What is this?

This mod adds an incinerator to the game! You can now make all those dirty corpses disappear without leaving a trace. Say goodbye to the endless fields of graves, and instead welcome the fresh smell of burnt human in the morning.

They can burn any kind of body (human or animal) and it will fit four of them at once. Bodies will cremate relatively fast, but you can configure the speed through the settings file.

Members of your community will also incinerate nearby corpses if they aren't busy. They will first take their valuables and then drag their bodies inside the incinerator. They will not incinerate characters from communities that aren't hostile, and they will also avoid incinerating animals that haven't been skinned. You can disable this in the settings.

Requires starting a new game. Not tested in coop.

Recipes
  • Build Incinerator. Requires 3 Construction Skill + ToolBox + 4 SteelIngot + 4 Wood.

Settings
The settings file can be found in the mod's folder under "Settings_Incinerator.xml".
  • CremationRate. The rate at which bodies will cremate. (default 1.0)
  • CanNpcIncinerateBodies. Whether npcs can incinerate bodies. (default true)
  • NpcIncinerateRange. The range at which characters can look for bodies to incinerate. (default 20)

Not sure if this will help anyone but no one was automatically burning corpses for me until I deleted my farm zones. I am playing with zedmulate mod so maybe that has something to do with the issue. I like this mod tho thanks for making it :)

Even though there's an incinerator in the area, other NPCs in my community don't burn corpses. However, my main character occasionally automatically dumps corpses into the incinerator.

And the incinerator is so noisy that I'm afraid to go near it.

The incineration range is 20 tiles but you can change it in the settings file, maybe try increasing it to 40?

Is the incinerator assigned to your community? That's the only reason I can think of that would make them not incinerate the bodies because If it isn't, they won't use it.

But if it is, then I'll check about increasing the incineration range. Normally they won't prioritize incinerating bodies, and only do so when they aren't busy. Are they sitting around a campfire and/or doing nothing?

My members don't burn automatically. I have to do it manually. The default is 'true'. What command should I change to make my members move automatically? Also, how far is the distance in units of 10?

The NPC cannot remove the ashes from the incinerator. When NPCs try to take out the ashes, they will just walk motionless beside the incinerator.

You're welcome! @sereal I'll reduce the volume of the fire in the next patch, I'll see if I can make it a setting as well

Thank you for the mod. Really handy! Is there a setting to control the volume of the incinerator? The roaring fire sound is a bit too loud imho.

@SweetCaptn yea I started a new savefile and now it works lol. Ive always used mods midgame. Didnt know we can use it before starting a new save file. Thanks! Neat mod btw

So turns out you can put living people in the incinerator if they are unconscious, but the mod doesn't kill them before erasing the corpse, so it's a good way to get rid of community members you don't like.

"Make it look like an accident".
