Prospector Perk

Description
A QOL Perk to passively collect gold powder in a large radius!

This is a standalone version of a feature for a separate (work in progress) mod. This non-stackable Perk allows the player to slowly gather nearby gold powder, even without direct contact or line of sight.

Collecting 100k gold powder goes from 2 minutes without the mod to ~25 seconds!

The Perk can be picked up in Holy Mountains or freely obtained by finding a small podium within the Gold Biome.

Seems to be compatible with Entangled Worlds, but please report any issues if found.

After using this mod a lot, I think there should be a config option for how fast it picks up the gold (or rather, how many pixels it hits per frame). I know you made it slow as an attempt to balance it against having enemies around, but in practice, all that ever happens is that I clear out the enemies first and then take forever to pick up all the little gold pockets. Or at least that's what happened before I tweaked num_cells_sucked_per_frame to 10000 in my copy.

Just wanted to add my two cents. Some people seem to think this might be too much for a free perk in the gold biome, but I feel like if you're able to get up there in the first place money isn't an issue any more. This just saves time and I appreciate you working on this!

I'll take a look into that compat :dealerrizz: I didn't really think of it as this perk is a (kind of) alternative to Instant Gold Pickup. Funkiness around loading order def sounds like something's misbehaving in one of the two mods.

Visual config will be easy enough too. I'll add that today or tomorrow

It seems there is a conflict trying to use this mod with Instant Gold Biome Pickup: If it is after this mod, its pickup doesn't spawn and the biome contains no gold, and if it is before this mod, all that happens plus Prospector perk also doesn't spawn! (I haven't tested it without the setting to spawn Prospector perk in the Gold biome.) I don't know how feasible compatibility would be, but it would save players time.

Less importantly, could we get a config to disable the visual effect from the perk? Noita can already be a very visually busy game. I can do this in my local copy but that does get overwritten by mod updates.

far be it for me to question balance in a game like noita, but including it in the gold biome and as a random perk feels a bit... questionable.
the gold biome is already incredibly strong as-is, so it giving a perk on top feels excessive.

I'll add that in soon, just moved to a new PC so need to setup the modding env again 😅 It can pretty easily be a mod config option

Hi, would it be possible to have an option to disable adding the perk to the Holy Mountain? Having it be purely static would make it so it doesnt change the perks for the daily run for example. Thanks :)

There's no stacking as of now, it gets unbalanced quite quickly. Gold powder in small amounts takes a bit to pick up, a larger range or faster pickup makes clearing early levels too trivial. Extra range/speed doesn't make much difference in the Gold Biome too aside from 10 seconds or so
