DE DDR DR DB E 42 242 142 Holzroller

The class E 42 (class 242 from 1970) of the Deutsche Reichsbahn was an electric locomotive that was a modified version of the DR class E 11 for freight and slow passenger transport. These locomotives were still in service on the German railway for a short time as DB class 142. Some locomotives were sold to Switzerland and designated as Ae 417, Ae 476 or Ae 477. The class is also known by the nickname Holzroller. Some locomotives are (or were) still in private use today or can be found in railway museums
