Quality of Life - group heal, self-teleport, free resurrect, free petpal

Description
Here is a mod that adds a lot of Quality of Life improvements I have personally used myself and decided to package them up in case anyone else wants to use. I find it easier to play a dated game like this with these to make the game easier to get into again.

IMPORTANT: This game only allows one mod to be active, unfortunately. And the mod will work on new saves only. There are manual workarounds to these but I don't have that ready yet.

1. Heroes get civil ability boost:
Start with 1 loremaster, 1 crafting, and the Petpal talent.

Petpal is required for the best game experience, and loremaster and crafting are useful early in the game, so having this at the beginning helps a fair bit. NOTE: if you put a point into craft or loremaster in Character Creation, it will somehow reset your ability points and you will have to re-distribute them on the first beach. If your starting class includes these (or Petpal), change them.

2. Heroes start with 3 skillbooks:
Jumparound - new self-teleport skill so you don't have to throw each other around with teleportation (and make your companions angry if you fling them). Uses 25AP to avoid being used in battle. Skillbook is reusable by companions.

Endless health - quick group heal for use after battles (not compatible with Zombie). Uses 24AP so can't be used in battle. Spell animation is small so it will heal quickly, thus avoiding companions dying after battle from fire due to slow animations. Skillbook is reusable by companions.

Resurrect - I never chose this skill at the Master level as Witchcraft had way more useful spells. So I made the spell a novice spell without a witchcraft requirement and made HP recovery to 50%. Skillbook consumed; same as before. It is more to resurrect your companions after battles without having to horde scrolls. (also good if you accidentally kill your Zombie companion with the Endless Health heal above).

3. Crafting station anywhere!
Mod makes anvil, campfire, & whetstone wheel weigh very little. This way you can set them up together wherever you like. I generally put a set at a waypoint in Cyseal then at another set at the waypoint by Silverglen, avoiding the need to walk to craft. They aren't movable once you drop them.

4. Mayor of Cyseal Vendor items - You can buy the crafting stations items and the skillbooks from the Mayor in Cyseal.

5. Weight reduction - reduced the weight of a bunch of other items to make inventory management easier - mainly barrels, heavy armour, and a number of other things. Not great for those trying barrelmancy but good for the rest of us!

6. Traders have more gold - greatly increased the amount of gold most traders have so when selling all your items, you can sell it easier rather than wandering from vendor to vendor selling stuff.

7. Improved luck tables a little bit for containers. It still kinda sucks but better than before.

Modding this game is a bit janky so let me know if anything is off. I did a test run with this version to Cyseal to make sure the Mayor had the items correctly.

I may also add a few more things but figured this would still be useful as is.

UPDATE May 2025: Version added to Nexus that allows most features to be added to an existing save. Just the bonuses at character creation can't be added.

@Pretentieux I don't think so. @Wazat1 also, this game only allows one mod active so if you have two, one just won't work.

Does this mod disable achievements?

Wazat1 make sure you go to the MODS section of the main menu of the game. You have to check the box next to the mod you want to enable.

Mod doesn't appear to work :( I'm subscribed and I restarted the game before making characters, but none of the listed features are present. I mainly just care about free Pet Pal.

Thanks, I'll check it out! The lack of free petpal is unfortunate, but I can live without it.

@Midnight I just added an optional version on Nexus for existing mods. Instructions are in there but the basic is that it is a copy and paste over the relevant game files rather than installing this as a mod. All the features seem to work, except for the petpal/loremaster/crafting bonuses as those only happen at character creation.

What are the manual workarounds you mention to make this work with a current savegame?
