I'd like to throw my two cents in and list another method (more complex than the others listed, but still viable):
If you can swing it, save a polymorph for a potion shop. Snag an alembic and then keep your eye out for invisibility potions and blindness potions to make more polymorphs. Lots of shopkeepers keep invisibility potions in their special stock, which if you're planning on leveling trading anyway, shouldn't be hard to snag. Shopkeepers also love to keep mana and booze in their special stock, which mix to make blindness.
Plus, you get free Alchemy levels, which is free XP and the potential (if you really want to commit) of some bangin' +2 extra healings.
