42.8.0 update: The stress removal part of this mod is no longer required, but the optional increased damage when chopping down trees is still useful. Keep the mod if you use that feature, but if you just wanted the stress fix you can unsubscribe.

After extensive research I have determined that lumberjacks:

  • Are okay
  • Sleep all night
  • Work all day
  • Cut down trees
  • Eat their lunch
  • Go to the Lavatory
  • Going shopping on Wednesdays
  • Have buttered scones for tea

However Lumberjacks are not:
  • Panicking because the noise their axe makes is really loud


This mod removes the stress caused by cutting down trees.

Bonus: In sandbox options you can add a damage multiplier to tree damage, or just instantly kill trees with one swing.


FAQ

Is this mod safe to add/remove mid-game?

Yes.

Why don't trees shake when I cut them down?

Because they are not panicking either.

Can you provide citations for your research into lumberjacks?

Yes.

42.12 hates all the mods! I'll add this to the list of mods to fix, but since it's now just a "chop trees faster" mod if getting it going looks too hard it may have to be abandoned.

@opaxite no, it won't because the functions this mod patches are specific to chopping. I think the vehicle/tree collision code is in java so cant be fixed by a Lua mods. Report the issue on the bug report forums.

@Nephente: In the latest build, bushes no longer slow down vehicles, but they break with a sound. This causes stress accumulation and driving down a dirt road means you’re a nervous wreck at the end of it.

Does this mod solve the issue? If not, would you consider solving it please?

I'm around loggers, can say loggers are not panicing. However logging is scary the cool factor is usually equal to the scary factor so it balances out. Subbed.

@eight thanks, working on the description was the most fun part of the mod even if I lost several hours listening to old Monty Python skits.
