Hills and Barrens

Description
Using elevation data from Brittania to get some high hills with some open distances and some more constrained, this painstakingly made map is perfect for working on scheme of maneuver, sectors of fire, support by fire positiions, dismount points, and so forth. You have lots of tree clumps, lots of hills, lots of small houses making lots of options for you, but also lots of options for the enemy. There are many terrain features and potential objectives, and I've connected everything with a robust road network to give additional options.

It really warms my heart that another TacOps grognard played that map! That was why I made it.

"Holdridge's Back Acres" - sure did. Already played a generated scenario on it. Re TacOps, when I found out that the content was disappearing off the net, I went into full panic mode and scooped up what I could find. I managed to save a fair amount, including a lot of maps, but sadly much had already disappeared.

End user can drag and drop maps from AB 1 into their Documents/MyGames/AB II/maps folder, but I have to publish these through Steam Workshop which is flaky for me and time consuming. Wish I could just point to the existing workshop items, but no dice.

@hub6actual: Did you see the map I made called "Holdridge's Back Acres" It is MAJ H's first map (001c) from TacOps re-imagined in 3D. I loved TacOps as well and agree that it is much like TacOps.

Stevie Lee:

Thank you for your maps - I think they are excellent. I've scooped them all up from AB1 and put them in AB2, as T of M has said. They work just fine. AB1 in particular reminds me so much of TacOps 4. I was involved in a number of TacOps CPX's way back with a bunch of guys, both civvies and mil types. They were intense yet fun at the same time. That game was virtually bulletproof when running multiplayer. Major Holdridge done good...
Hey, another AB map maker here. Porting AB1 to AB2 is easy, you can literally drag and drop and youre good to go. in regards to making maps in AB2, Ironically enough I perfer to paint in AB1 then export and test in AB2 lol.

Ugh, may be a while before I get back to this; prefer to work in AB I. Lots of work to figure out the new interface and see if I can make it work for me. Right now it is so slow to move around and shift views and I don't know how to quickly re-center map. I work so fast in AB I, this will take 20x as long to do anything.

Testing to see how hard to port my maps over from AB I to AB II. I work long days, so this may have to wait until the weekend, but I will try to port a few over as I have time.
