No Tech Stealing XL

Description
For XL version 1.34.2

Removes the ability of all XL races to steal research.

Only works in new games after enabling mod and restarting game after enabling. Specifically compatible with XL, must be after in the load order. Like XL, all expansions are required.

Do not use with any other NTS mods or without XL!

It was originally someone else's idea in General Discussions, I found it is really easy to mod out tech stealing entirely. So despite my skepticism of the idea, I tried it out... and it ended up working pretty well. After using it, it felt like tech stealing was an easy method to catch up in technology to other empires, and other empires didn't seem like they really needed it. Especially after the first few tech levels are completed, as automation mostly stops using spies aside from territory spying missions.

So it's functionally like turning off Tech Trading.

However, its only easy to remove it entirely. Races could have their Espionage modifiers cranked down easily enough, but that'd also affect territory spying missions, which I think is an important part of the game. There may be a way to adjust tech stealing missions specifically, but I don't know how to do that.

Hi Nightskies,

Instead of removing tech stealing completely, would it be possible to make it more difficult or have heavier consequences if detected?

Or, is there a technical/time limitation against it?

Or even a reasoning justification for it to be completely removed instead of other approach?

Thank you!

Working on my end. Did you restart the game after enabling mod?

weird, I have the mod enabled and started a fresh game and still my spies are happily stealing tech from pirates :/

All sorted out. It was an upload issue I had in getting the XL update, it seems I had an older version somehow when I updated to 1.32.4.

Mortalen's Blooded Clans from XL gets overwritten by your mod, as Feudalism. It likely changes other things.

@Nightskies - I'm just about to publish new version of XL - which has some race file changes - so hopefully you can update this soon after. Just a head's up!

That's right, all races in XL.

No other NTS mods should be used with this one.

That should have been in the description too, in hindsight. Thanks Warious, for pointing that out.

SO explain to me - this means NO TECH STEALING vanilla races + all DLCs + XL mod? coz I can't mix up NTS ALL IN ONE with NTS XL right? so either this one or previously mentioned NTS AIO. If XL version of mod also contains all vanilla + expansions then it should be stated.
